Two thousand and ninety one

...Words of my novel written by 8.30 this morning. I think I can declare my writer's block on this one finally over. Not only that, I have the voice of the book now; the light and colours of it, I've got four of my five central characters talking and walking and I know who they are and – I’m so  pleased because it's really been bothering me that I couldn't get it up and running.

Phew. *g*

So, that leaves me the rest of the day to write some fic.

I've got my writerly groove back. ::gyrates that happy jive thang:

Yay! Good for you :-)

I've just switched the telly off (watched Jeremy Kyle first - what can I say, it's a disease!) and I'm about to get stuck in to the NT. ::sends good fic writing vibes::

I'm sooo glad for you! Yay! And I'm in no way egoistic in that... *obsessively presses reload on the Academy community*

*g* Seriously, I'm very happy for you!

Ah sheesh - ::blushing wildly::...

Your kindness re the Academy thingy stuns and humbles me. I need to fix the problems with the last bit then I'll start tackling Jim, but he's such a tricky cove to write, it may take a while.

I'm really relieved about the novel because I was this close to scrapping it - it just wasn't happening - and (telling you this because know you like to talk about writing (o:) it all turned out to be a POV problem; I thought I could do the whole book through one pair of eyes - I couldn't. I've switched it to 3 POVs and it's all just fallen into place.

I feel more relaxed than I have in months. *g*

Jeremy Kyle says you're scum...

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
if you watch his show. Honestly, the DNA test proves it.

*g*

I've been trying to opress on since 8.30 but Dad is being unusually difficult this morning. :;sigh:: But we have him settled now, with tea and Jeeves and Wooster. I need a work out then I'll be pressing on with de fic.

And, NT squee!! Keep us posted on your progress because, you know. ::is impatient::

Wow - that's fantastic - go you!

Fireworks and pom poms! ::is mesmerised by the pretty::

i'm always impressed by people who can manage to sit down and write. i have plotbunnies, and stories i really need to work on, but somehow, sitting down, when i have so many other things and hobbies to do just seems... too hard. and then there are friends to catch up on.

anyway, go you! (and spank me, but that's another story, and probably tmi to boot, heh!)

Hey, no need to blush. Just calling it as I see it and having fun :-) And I can totally understand how Jim might be trickier to write. In a way his motivation/emotions and actions are more controversial wrt themselves. But I'm sure you'll get it done and I'm guessing that tinkering with the last bit should get you in the groove :-)

I'm really relieved about the novel because I was this close to scrapping it - it just wasn't happening - and (telling you this because know you like to talk about writing (o:) it all turned out to be a POV problem; I thought I could do the whole book through one pair of eyes - I couldn't. *g* One of the biggest reasons of why I keep going on and on about POV (since I figured out what it was) is that I think it's one of the biggest keys if not *the* key to telling the story. If it doesn't fit, you just can't tell the story that's in your head. Period. The most schizophrenic thing about it is that you have this idea/feeling/whatever about the story in your head, have it all planned and everything, the characters are working and properly motivated, and still it can take ages to figure out from which POV you're actually seeing it all. Which, of course, you've just experienced. So again Yay! on getting over this obstacle. I'm hopeful that you won't be running into any more :-)

"I've got my writerly groove back."
Was it gone? Surely couldn't tell by Angel Dust! Stunning work, amazing stuff there and did that say sequels?
Also waiting slightly impatiently for the Academy story since I was a goof and missed out at the auction, too busy ansting over the stuff I said I'd do and forgot to bid on anything. But Anticipation makes the honey sweeter right?

[identity profile] snycock.livejournal.com 2008-01-24 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
YAY! So glad to hear you're back in the writing groove!

i'm always impressed...

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-01-24 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa! *g* Honestly, if it was hard I wouldn't be able to do it. But I'll happily spank you, if it makes you happy.

Awesome indeed

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-01-24 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
because I thought this was never going to get going; I just couldn't seem to get a handle on it then suddenly it just started to fly. So awesome, yup. *g*

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-01-24 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
::is going:: - another 1,900+ words this morning.

yay!

Was it gone?

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-01-24 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man...

Yes. Big time! (o: But it's back now; I've cooked its favourite dinner (gorgonzola pizza) and it's all bedded down on a feather duvet. I needs must keep it sweet in future. *g*

The Academy tale - what a big old angst-fest that is! It's much more than half-way through now, though and coming along fast, you shouldn't have to wait too long to see it.

But thanks so much for your amazing and lovely words on AD, I'm chuffed to Cairo and back that you liked it that much. Gosh... ::blushes:: bless you - and a sequel, yup; the story's a trilogy (but I haven't even begun to give part 3 serious thought yet).

Is relieved...

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-01-24 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah; I thought I was going to have to scrap it for a while there. But it's coming along brilliantly now; I just did another almost-2,000 words that I'm quite pleased with. It's working out a lot heavier on the comedy than I'd anticipated but that's not a bad thing, i don;t think. A bend of the comic and tragic should work well I hope.

Re: i'm always impressed...

[identity profile] boogieshoes.livejournal.com 2008-01-24 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
well, when i manage to actually sit down and *do* it, it's not hard - and i'm always telling myself stories, so it's not like i'm lacking in *wordage* to put down.

the hard part is actually deciding to concentrate on it for a half-hour or so (which is how long my writing time chunks seem to last). i have this severe magpie comp - ooo, shiney!

Whoo-hoo! You got your mojo back :)

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
My mojo is a bit like a boomerang - it came back eventually, but it certainly took its bloody time. Uh huh ::nods::
