It's been a busy evening of telly watching what with a repeat of the Top Gear American eppy, Doctor Who Confidential and of course,

Hmmm. Mixed feelings on this one. There were some nice moments; I especially loved the scene when Donna wanted to hear the Ood song then, having heard it, had to have it taken away. That was very nice. The chase sequence was very well done. I enjoyed Tim McInnerny peeling off his scalp and sicking up the tentacles (and did you see the art in his office? he had Oods of purest green ::giggle::). And the Doctor's song is coming to an end...? O:!

And... Urm... That's about it, really.

It wasn't a bad eppy, just a bit so so. The ebil corporation, hiding its wickedness behind a smoothly professional venir has been done to DEATH in New Who - it's the second time this season and we're only on episode 3! The vewy ebil Head of Corporation getting his comeuppance (you know, just like in real life) - whoa; didn't see that coming ::smothers a yawn::

It was all so visually disappointing. If it's the far distant future (what was it, 42nd century or something?) why did it look so very 21st? Everyone's in a suit! Men still worry about going bald? Those containers could have (and probably did) come right out of Cardiff Docks and The Moral of the Week was laid on with a bloody trowel.

Despite all the above, I did enjoy it; it was a standard Who romp- nothing wrong with that, but PotO is not one that'll live in the memory. After last week's brilliance, it was a bit of a let down and I really hope we're going to see something with a little more freshness and imagination next week because some of these storylines are getting really tired, IMO.

At first I was thinking it might be a veiled reference to a regeneration, or maybe (yawn) Rose (again) but...
The Ood song was a song of sadness, of captivity, of disconnection. If the Doctor's song of all the above is ending now, could this be another 'Gallifrey returning' reference? Or is that just my wishful thinking?

::Hmms and muses in a Bill Hartnell way::

And what's with all the bees? - second mention this series. Could it, perchance, be connected to the disappearing planets? Waves of timic distortion from the loss of Gallifrey and, presumably, the Eye of Harmony too? Whatever's keeping the TARDIS afloat? And what happened to the other eight Gallifreys? The ones put there for just this reason - a bolt hole in case anything bad happened to the original one?

Am I thinking far too much about this...?
