Although the spring break week can happen anytime from late March to mid-April (if finals are in early May, then the break is more likely to be in March; if finals are later in May, then there's a later spring break....) And it's definitely summer vacation. Some schools offer a summer "session" of classes, but many private liberal arts colleges are closed over the summer.
