I don't remember that specific title but I've seen a couple of Conan Doyle documentaries - I'd be surprised if one passed me by. :o) He was a fascinating chap, especially his interest in spiritualism and etc.

It's not really the messing with canon that irritated me so much as the over-emphasis on action to the exclusion of anything else, it was just incredibly boring.
