I can't get in the kitchen to make tea.

This makes me sad, angry and question the meaning of my life. These are not good things for a Sunday Morning so I thought I should do a meme and apparently, I am...

Hmmm. Do I feel better? I really don't know. My brain is still too muddied from the lack of tea for me to say.

Mark got up at 6am to put the sealant on the kitchen floor; I cannot decide if he's a hero or a fool. The stuff ate through a bristle brush and two pairs of rubber gloves, the smell is unbearable and the floor can't be walked on for four hours. This means no access to the kettle or the stairs (and that means the bathroom) for another hour. I'm sitting on the sofa with the front door wide open to let in some air and I needs tea!!! Dammit!

Time to grab Mark and head out of the house for a late breakfast and some tea, and access to a bathroom.. Is it still morning where you're at? I shouldn't be up at all but I went to bed kind of early and now I can't finish sleeping.

Just think how nice your floor will look from now on.

"Just think how nice your floor will look from now on."
Humph! I guess - she said with a bad grace. (o:

I just braved (hopping from dry patch to dry patch) it to snag the kettle, the toaster and a tray of edibles - as for heading out; I haven't had a shower and I'm still in my pjs so that's kind of - not really an option. *G*

The stuff has started to eat through the soles of my slippers O:!

I would offer you some tea at my house - but I guess that is not going to work right now - so all I have to share with you is my deepest sympathy....

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Sympathy received with grateful thanks. (o: - As soon as it had dried enough to rescue the kettle, i was in there. *G*

Second coat's going on now, then after Mark's had a bath, we're abandoning ship.

*offers virtual cuppa*
If the stuff smells that strong, the fumes could well be toxic. Please take care.

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh the fumes are well toxic - there are ominous warnings all over the bottle and the cutest little scull and crossbones...

I've showered, have had tea and toast and now I have coffee so I'm OK. Mark's putting the second coat on now; after he's had a bath we're out of here for the duration. (o:

"Please take care."
Thanks - we are. Mark's suited up like anthrax has broken out.

Oh my - this sounds bad - abandon ship maybe?

::sends virtual cuppa::

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks hon, but I've been able to liberate the kettle so my nerves are a bit calmer now.

Abandoning ship is exactly what we'll do as soon as Mark's had his bath.

::sips virtual cuppa. Sends chocolate-coated, coffee smooches by return::

I love that lolcat! So funny!

As for the tea situation...can't you go to a cafe or something? You *need* tea. And, on the plus side, you'll be able to use their bathroom.

[identity profile] arnie1967.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, just read all your replies above. ::suspects she should have done that before replying::

I think abandoning ship is a *very* good idea. Especially if it's eating through the soles of your slippers! o.O It's less toxic when dried, right??

I hope you have fun away from the house and kitchen floor, and that the floor's dry and the smell's gone by the time you get home.

[identity profile] janedavitt.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I can feel your pain. Can a kind neighbour help you out?

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw no, no need to bother anyone on a sunday morning; I crept in to liberate the kettle and we're at mum and dad's now, while it dries.

Thanks for feeling my pain. *g*

[identity profile] angelvette67.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey! By now you should be back to normal, even if the smell does linger a bit sometimes. You had mentioned you wanted to do this back in April, when I was doing up my kitchen. How does it look now that it's dry? Did it turn out well?

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It's taken a while to get our act together, hasn't it? *G*

It looks completely transformed now it's properly clean, as to how it'll look when it's sealed and dry, I'll tell you next week when we get back - I'm at mum and dad's now.

[identity profile] angelvette67.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
When things turn out well, it makes all the inconvenience worth it though. How's your mum doing?

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... so, so, you know. Not great, but better than she was. Thanks for the thought, hon.

[identity profile] betagoddess.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yikes! I hope you've had your tea by now! =>}

And that warning lolcat is too funny! *g*

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I've had multiple cups and tea and coffee since, thanks. The waiting time gave me plenty of time to write, anyhow - I've been tapping out fic like a mad thing all day, even in the car, scribbling ideas. I seem to be on a massive vibe with this new fic, at least I am, now I've had my tea. (o:

I'm having some now, watching Michael Palin, feeling relaxed. (o:

[identity profile] betagoddess.livejournal.com 2007-09-16 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Three very good things! Coffee, you writing and Michael Palin!

Go you! *g*
