Anyone else catch the very wonderful Factory documentary on BBC4 tonight?

Such memories... But you do get the feeling that the worst thing anyone could do was get involved with Factory and that the best thing that ever happened to Morrissey was Anthony H. losing his play and pissing him off forever more. If that hadn't happened, maybe all The Smith's money would have disappeared into the Hacienda-hole, like New Order's did.

Ah Tony. I miss him.

I found it very interesting: it filled in some of the gaps I had about Factory. I was amazed by just how much money the Hacienda ate up: I knew it had used up loads of it, but never realised quite how much...
And the vignette of Britain just before those days: I think I realised it had been grim, but never noticed just *how* grim...

They always over-emphasise the grim, imo. It really wasn't. I loved the 70's; some of the very best times of my life.
