Hmmm. I keep seeing this, cropping up here and there every so often, so I'm finally succumbing. An awful lot here I've never heard of let alone seen, an awful lot of my favourite shows that aren't here but, hey ho, here we go...
The Rules are:
- Bold all of the following TV shows of which you've seen 3 or more episodes.
- Italicize a show if you're positive you've seen every episode.
- Asterisk if you have at least one full season on tape or DVD
- If you want, add up to 3 additional shows (keep the list in alphabetical order) - I've added:
Monty Python's Flying Circus - how come this wasn't on the list? Unbelievable!
I'm Alan Partridge

You Can't Do That on Television

I was about to italicise 'Survivor' thinking, for a moment, it said 'Survivors' - 70's show of genius from the mind of the great Terry Nation. Now that was a show. I should have added that. Perhaps I will (if Starwatcher's breaking rules and adding extra shows... A dangerous precedent indeed).

Does it actually mean anything? I doubt it, really...  Anyway, I'm off to watch Top Gear.

Good for you for adding Monty Python!

I couldn't believe it wasn't there, I checked and checked!

I have no idea what a goodly chunk of those shows are tbh. *g*

Yeah! Monty Python! *g*

This list is a funny one of British and North American shows. Luckily, we got several of the British ones here in Canada, but there are a lot I'm not at all familiar with.

Fun meme! =>}

It's fascinating to see how many TV shows were thought worthy of inclusion that I've never heard of. I might Google a few, see if there's something I should be looking for.

It passed an interesting twenty minutes anyway. (o:

Yes! *g*

Most of the N. American ones I haven't seen ... well ... there's a good reason for that! Not my taste at all. Heh heh.

If any on my list are ones you haven't seen and you want to know about them, just ask. =>}

OK: Corner Gas, Davinci’s Inquest, Forever Knight, Hardcastle & McCormick, Kyle XY, Men In Trees, My Life as a Dog, My Three Sons, Night Court, The Mythbusters, Twitch City and
Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?...

Are all unknown and mysterious to me (Don't feel obliged to answer for them all! Just the ones you care about. *G*)

LOL. Here we go.

Corner Gas. Often, Canada totally sucks at sitcoms, but once in a while we come up with a good one. Corner Gas takes place in a fictional town in rural Saskatchewan and involves the silly antics of the people who live there. 30 minutes, a totally insane romp. =>}

DaVinci's Inquest is a series based on a real Coroner in Vancouver. A Canadian show, very dark, gritty and realistic. As a Canadian, it was good to see how actual CANADIAN law is practised, since from birth most of what we see on TV is the American version, yet Canadians follow the British system which is QUITE different from the American one.

We used to watch DV'sI until he decided to go into politics and we lost interest.

I barely remember Hardcastle & McCormick but it had Brian Keith in it. Here's a link in case you want to know more! =>} Click here!

Kyle XY I have only just started watching, mainly because Nick Lea is in it and I love him. It's a SciFi show. Kyle shows up, a teenager, naked in the woods with no ability to talk. But he learns fast. He has no belly buttom. The drama continues. *g*

Men In Trees is another show we only started watching recently, also because Nick Lea is in it. It's about a NY (I think) woman (played by Anne Heche), who moves to Alaska. I liked Northern Exposure much better in its day, but I will watch the eps that have Nick Lea in them. Yes, I am that shallow. *g*

My Life As A Dog I got from a friend only because Callum Keith Rennie is in it. It's really a kids' show - the life of a young boy. I only watched a few eps. It was cute, but there was not nearly enough of CKR for me. LOL. I TOLD you I was shallow. =>}

My Three Sons is a blast from my long ago past. It was a wonderful sitcom with Fred MacMurray that started in 1960 and ran until 1972!!! Our whole family loved it.

Night Court was a VERY funny sitcom from 1984-1992 with Harry Anderson as the judge of night court. John Laroquette (who started with Boston Legal this season) was the Asst. D.A. It had a very quirky humour to it and we used to watch it all the time.

The Mythbusters I have only watched because I was stuck in the living room with our nephew in the evening for a few summers. LOL. It's two weird guys who debunk myths by trying things out, often nearly killing themselves. Totally silly. =>}

Twitch City is another Canadian sitcom that I only watched because Callum Keith Rennie was in it. Friends of mine just loved it. I found it totally stupid. End of story. *g*

Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego. I shall quote from Wikipedia:

"Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? was a popular children's television game show loosely based off the computer games of the same name created by now defunct Brøderbund Software. World aired on PBS from 1991 to 1996"

We had the computer game and the kids used to watch the show. It was a wonderful way of teaching kids geography.

So there you have it. Probably TMI, but you asked for it. LOL.

Yeah, I know the feeling! Good luck! =>}

We're really enjoying Kyle XY.

I'm grabbing this one. Believe it or not - I hadn't seen it yet! And I'll keep Monty Python there - cannot believe it wasn't on the original list!

Yep.

There's no excuse, from either side of the pond. It was broadcast here when those of us of a certain age were in college. Our kids still watch it. DVDs abound. Crosses generations...

Didn't everyone in the UK watch Spaced? Well, not *everyone*, obviously, but you know what I mean. *g*

Spaced is love. I needs a Spaced icon...

Here in Aust it was televised on cable tv, at 10pm on a Saturday night. If any of the free-to-air channels ever broadcast it prior to that, I must have missed it. But no-one I know has even heard of the show so I doubt it made it onto free tv.

That's cool!

We have a bandwidth problem though - we're on satellite. I could get my teens to download shows for me when they go to the Internet cafe - that would work!

posted by [identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com at 10:03am on 16/10/2007
I think you'll find the internet cafe has a problem with that!

That's a shame - we have broadband but we've just been smacked on the arse by our internet provider for soaking up the bandwidth ourselves. *G*

They can try it...once, just to see. ;)

They are able to go there and download their anime, so maybe...
