...This story, first of 2 sequels to Chasing Rainbows, was won by Debbie for Moonridge 2006 - that's how long it's taken me to finish, and it's not even that long! Just 41,998 words, it's one of my shortest fics. I'm not really sure why it's been so hard to do; I've had a lot of RL trouble and the story was difficult to write, having a complex, wordy style, but even so...

Sheesh!

Anyway, the story, she is done, all bar a final read-through and a beta and I am so relieved it's finally over!

And the fruitiest, fattest, juiciest words of adoration go to those who've seen this one through its long gestation and difficult birth. [personal profile] fluterbev, [personal profile] snycock, [personal profile] earth2skye and [personal profile] t_verano - [personal profile] betagoddess too, who's taken on the task of final beta. I strew roses in your wake and prostrate myself at your fragrant feet in gratitude and love. Thank you all.

Ooh, strong hooch, my favourite! T Verano's been plying me with champagne; are y'all trying to get me drunk?

Thanks for the congrats, I am extremely glad it's finally done.

I thank you for mentioning me, but I almost feel bad for that because I have been so shamefully absent in reading any of your WIPs for a long while now... I’m truly sorry about that and always hope I’ll do better soon. I definitely plan on taking it all with me for Christmas and maybe giving you some overall comments when I read the lot in one go.

Anyway, what I really wanted to say: CONGRATULATIONS! From what I’ve read you truly went through a shitty time (and are not quite out of it, it seems) and to get this done despite all of that... Cudos! Lots and lotsa Cudos! I hope that your Christmas will be all the more peaceful because you have this off your chest at least.

Also, you don’t know just how much it relieves me to know that I maybe won’t be breaking records next year, when I might finish my Moonridge 2007 writing around this time ;-) LOL, Sorry *g*

Well you were there for the bulk of it and we all have other stuff that takes our time so no worries on that score, hon. I hope you enjoy it when you finally get around to it but don't worry about commenting, unless you *really* want to.

I am glad it's done. I'm taking a day to put up the tree today, then hopefully pressing on with the next thing which is to finish the Academy story. I'll be starting Rainbows 3 (which I think you also generously contributed to) in the new year.

Thanks for all your help.

Congrats on finishing. Like other commenters, I'll look forward to seeing the story when it's more widely available. :-)

The relief, she is mighty indeed.

'I'll look forward to seeing the story when it's more widely available.'
I should reserve that till you see it - it's quite an odd tale.

I'm *really* looking forward to reading Kings or Knaves. I haven't had time for much reading lately but I've been saving it all on my palm for reading over Christmas.

I quite like 'odd', and that's an evocative icon. :-)

Thanks for the anticipation re Kings or Knaves. I'm nearly finished. Yay! If I completely skimp my pre-Xmas responsibilities I might even have an edited, tidied up version done before the New Year, although I'm not holding my breath. :-)

OOooh! I can't wait for public consumption ;) Jim and Blair do body shots in your honor!

Well, I hope you'll enjoy it; it's quite different from the original story - quite a bit darker.
