i thought I was going to be ill; I felt so nauseous this morning, I thought I'd maybe caught the dread novovirus - but I seem to have cheated the microbes, at least, I feel a lot better now.

Anyway, it was clear I wasn't going to be doing anything physically strenuous so I sat down by the fire and wrote, or at least, churned out 6,000 words of plot notes  for my novel - and I think I finally figured out where that's going, which is good because so far, progress has not been good. The plot, such as it is, is quite simple, but the characters and their motives are complex, as are their doings as they go about their business within the bones of the story. I've not been able to write because I was getting lost; not quite sure what everyone was up to at any given time. I'm trying to remember Ray Bradbury's sage advice; 'Find out what your hero wants, then follow him'. Trouble is, my 'hero' is the one character in the book least likely to know what he wants or how to get it and following him could be why I'm floundering. Anyway, I think I have it sorted now but the copious notes I've made could just turn out to be the ravings of a lunatic. This has happened before.

As the sun went down, I switched to the Academy fic; banged out another 778 words of that and might do more later. Progress, whilst not great is at least extant. Such a turn of events is not to be sneezed at.

And the Zokutou word meter doesn't seem to be working (again).

Such was my day; how about you?
location: Still by the fire but gotta cook something soon.

Whoa - 6000 words is pretty damn good, especially as you're feeling icky. ::pets::

I love reading about your writing processes; characters that won't explain to you what they're about sounds very frustrating, but I have all confidence that you're going to sort 'em out in the end ::hands over large butterfly net::

My day? Hah! Let's not go there *g*

Keep warm hon - it's not nice out there!

I'm glad you like reading my ramblings sugar - tbh, I mostly write them as a reminder to myself; they're nothing like as entertaining as your own, alas.

And you're so right about the darn weather, it's practically a hurricane out there.

I am so glad you did not fall to the dread virus and instead spent a day by the fire writing!

((hugs))

That is good news.

LOL; no one so glad as myself! I've heard that virus is horrendous.

The writing is going well at the moment; I seem to have cleaned out the block and got a few more pars written today. Progress is pretty feeble but at least it's moving in a forwards direction and not the hidjus, one step forward, one step back motion I've been suffering through since I first put finger to keyboard. And hugs to you, too!

Sounds like you got some things sorted out, which is necessary before you can make the words go right.

I took most of the day off for me and my man to go to the dentist. Did some chores, but mostly kind of frittered the day away. Looking over my Mag Seven/TS fic and adding in bits, thinking of [livejournal.com profile] t_verano's advice on earlier stories and seeing if I can spare her from having to point it out again.

talked about compost with [livejournal.com profile] snailbones and reading lj posts and [livejournal.com profile] lit_gal's new Firefly story, Thought Colored Ugly

Thought of a story idea based on plagerism from a post from [livejournal.com profile] fluterbev.

Going to finish mopping the danged kitchen floor and go for a walk, which I've postponed now for an hour and a half. I"m going to listen to a podfic of Written by the Victors by [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza to make it more interesting to do. I'm going to hope that the mountain lion who visited us a couple of years ago hasn't come back to eat me while I walk down the holler and back( about a mile and a half) in the dark. But I have a headlamp.

and since my Netflix DVD came today I'll probably end up watching one episode of Angel.

I hope you had a cosy night, you're probably asleep by now.

Sounds like you had a pretty productive day yourself - and didn't even get eated by a lion even once!

And any reference to you writing fills my heart with glee.

I'm so curious about Entanglement; it sounds like such a cool story...

I had work today, but I had my first class, and was informed by my TA that I am apparently well-reviewed on "pick your prof", so that was nice...

Well I *hope* it'll be a cool story - eventually. I more or less know where it's going now and have a fair idea (at last) of the part all the characters will play. One in particular, who I thought was just an incidental character has turned out to be crucial to the ending, which I hadn't realised before and that's helped pull everything else into focus. Which is good. (o:

How's that book of yours coming along?

'Pick your prof'? You get reviewed online? Where can we see this? *g*

How's that book of yours coming along?

Meh. I have so many fanfic obligations at this point that I do little more than think about it. But the last few weeks have given me a lot of fodder: we nearly got our Federal funding cut off because of substantiated incidents of patient abuse and neglect, and then the opening of our new hospital has been delayed sixty days because the place is full of mistakes and hanging hazards...

'Pick your prof'? You get reviewed online? Where can we see this? *g*

Apparently it's a website, pickyourprof.com? I'm not sure; my TA mentioned it last night, said I had a "pretty good" GPA as a prof: 3.2 I said I'd have to check myself out, and he said that might not be a good idea, so I'm not quite sure what to make of that...I may check it out anyway...

Hope you're having a good day!

Sometimes it's amazing how fast words can appear on a screen, isn't it. I have experienced the same phenomenon when writing notes. But 6,000 is an impressive number and I'll cross my fingers for you that they don't just turn out as "the ravings of a lunatic" ;-) I bet they don't, too.

Academy: I keep wanting to transcribe my notes, but haven't yet gotten around to doing it. But I probably won't do it before reading the next part that you've already posted. I'm just too curious :-)

Wordmeter: Here's another one that you can use. You just need to edit the url (words and target) in order to reflect what you want it to show and then post it as a picture (with the img tag):

Ah well, they're only notes... But the writing is coming along now so I think making those notes was crucial - it's crystallised a few things that were confusing and befuddling me and helped shift the bloc, so I'm happy. (o:

I see you've posted about the Academy story - I haven't read it yet, though (is a wuss *g*). I should have a little more to post tonight anyway. It's coming along well - i's the most enjoyable story I've written in a long time.

Thanks for the link; I got the word-meter to work but couldn't get it to post - hey ho; Academy/Owl is 60% done, Entanglement, still too small to see without a microscope. (o:

I hope your writing is going well, too.

Ray Bradbury's sage advice; 'Find out what your hero wants, then follow him'. Though of course, with my favourite heroes what they want and what they think they want are two very different things :) which is what makes it more interesting.

Ah well, you've hit the nail squarely on the head, there. Poor Angel (yes, that is his name - blame his mother *g*). He's made the most dreadful mess and now he's hiding from it all; good job his True Love is on the way to help him sort his life out.
