I've been writing all day - since ten this morning as a matter of fact and it's now just gone six pm and have achieved precisely 4, 143 words of massive Blair angst.

Told you I was slow. (o:

And those words are going to need some work, too. Ah well, Jim's up next; he has his own pain to work through. Then I expect they'll both be wanting some mutual 'comfort' of the [personal profile] betagoddess kind. *g*

So, the fic that still has no name currently stands at 47,830 words and nowhere near finished.

But hey ho, for tis time to leave ficcish things behind, cook some pasta and choose a DVD since there's bugger all on t'telly.

::waits patiently::

::okay slightly impatiently:: ;-)

I loves it, I do! I am very excited there is more to come :-)

I'm off to watch Primeval with the kids shortly. Between that and Torchwood, my jones for team-based stories is being truly satisfied :-)

Well, I can't speak for the squee, but I've been working on the Academy/owl story, yup - but progress is slow. It's not what Blair's saying - I've always known that, it's trying to gauge Jim's reactions so that the compassion and the luurve shines through with the minimum words (because this is Blair's story - Jim'll get his turn next) - and that's why it's been slow.

I wish I were a faster, more productive writer.

But I see you've been pretty productive yourself, hon... Excellent news. (o: - I just can't get into Primeval for some reason and I feel all left out, like I'm missing out on something wonderful. I love Ben Miller, too. Hey ho. Enjoy your show.

Oh my...I hear ya. I write incredibly slowly. And I don't write very many long fics; I write short fic. Very short. When I read posts where writers seem to be churning stuff out at supercrazy speed I sometimes get quite bummed. I very very very seldom get more than an hour or two at a time uninterrupted at the computer. And it's quite distracting to be in the middle of something and/or on a roll and have to shut it down because I hear footsteps approaching and can't take the chance of someone peering over my shoulder and discovering my secret. Ah, well...

So long as the end result is as lovely as it invariably is from one of your stories, I can wait as long a sit takes, but when you really, really really want to press o and you're being interrupted and distracted and *annoyed* then yeah, I hear that. (o:

::does some rough math calculations:: That's approximately 500 words per hour. My average is 300 - 500 words per hour; 600 is really, really good. In my view, you've sustained a very high output for an eight-hour stretch. That's not slow; woman, you're smokin'! You deserve a pat on the back, not a kick in the tush; go easy on yourself.

Oooh. Gosh. I smoke? ::high fives self:: Woohoo!

*G*

Really? Cause it felt incredibly slow to me - or, to qualify; I felt like I was rapping it out, but when I did a word count, it was decidedly disappointing. But I'm *more* than happy to take your estimable word for it that it's not. *g*

Anyway, it's time to drink wine and have some dinner. I hope you're having a lovely restful - afternoon(?) - yourself. ♥

I think this is one of the areas where we unconsciously assume that "other people" are better than we are. But I remember someone raising this question a while back, and it seems like 500 was a rough average. Of course, average means some are faster, but some are also slower. (Sometimes I only manage 600 words in TWO hours!) But I try very hard to toss out my expectations (I'd like to write faster, too), and remember that it really doesn't matter if it takes me a few weeks longer to reach the end, as long as people like the story.

It's been a productive morning -- I've figured out how to put up my bedroom blinds, have the measuring and cutting done, cleaned out all the outdoor water bowls for the animals. Now I'm off to town to eat lunch, write (I hope), check on my friend's dogs... But yeah, it's peaceful.

Now the tummy is rumbling; time to go! Put your feet up and enjoy your evening.

ooh, I love your happy dance. ::steps back to admire:: You've got all the moves baby!

I hope you'll enjoy it when it's finally done. It's going to be long, I can promise you that.

LOL! Woo hooooo! *bg*

Enjoy your pasta and DVD!

I have enjoyed my pasta thanks - that's long gone - and am now chomping down mints at an astonishing rate.

I hope you enjoy the next bit of the story; it's all very angsting and low key before we achieve some mutual smooching then back on with the plot.

I am confident that I shall indeed enjoy the story! *g*

I think over 4k words in a day is quite good!

So I'm told but it didn't feel good when I word-counted after writing at super-speed all day. *g* My expectations are clearly way too high...

And then there's the quality issue... heh heh. I'm expecting to have to do a lot of editing.
