I'm having a day off. I didn't intend to but I was so tired last night, my heart was tripping; I thought I was coming down with something. I went to bed at ten and didn't wake till gone nine this morning. So I spent the morning watching TV and catching up to LJ and when I realised it was after two pm and I'd done nothing I decided to give in to the inevitable.

I've had a rather lovely day, drinking coffee, eating toast, watching TV and DVDs  - Laurel & Hardy, The Card, Jeeves and Wooster. The Odd Couple's on ITV3 then I'm going to have to choose between Time Team and Robin of Sherwood.

I haven't written a word today and I don't care.

It must be years since I sat and watched TV like this. Fun isn't it? (o:

The Card? You mean the Arnold Bennett book is a movie? I ADORE that book. I'm from the Potteries and Denry is such a sweetie-pie.

Oh, it's a brilliant film - my favourite Arnold Bennett adaptation. B&W, 1952. Alec Guinness as Denry, Glynis Johns as Ruth. Valerie Hobson (married to the infamous Profumo) was the Countess. If you love the book, you should get a copy, it's a wonderful adaptation.

I wonder if I have? I mean, my mum and I love his books so much and it's hard to believe I wouldn't have seen it, but I just don't recall it at all.

Thank you for the link!

It's classic BBC Sunday afternoon movie fare - I'd be surprised if you hadn't seen it but it's not on that often.

'Thank you for the link!'
You're welcome - it crops up on ebay quite often.

I should make a Denry icon...

I just sent it to Mum from Amazon.uk as a just because present; incredibly cheap there!

Good for you! Everyone needs a do-nothing day. It's one of the best ways to take care of yourself. So have fun, watch lots of tv and drink tons of coffee until you're ready to float away.

Enjoy!

I'm thinking of switching to wine in a minute. I have a rather nice Chardonnay - I shall go and slip it into the fridge. *g*

Really, it must be literally years since I had a total switch-off day without it being a bona-fide holiday. It's - rather nice. I feel it's doing me good. I think I should do this more often. ::nods:: uh huh.

I think everybody needs to veg in front of the tube every once in awhile and it would be difficult to find anything better to do it with than Wooster and Jeeves or Robin of Sherwood, seriously! Enjoy!

Oh I did; am, will *g*

Got a glass of wine, The Fisher King is on soon. I'd forgotten how nice it is to just say 'sod it' and have a day off. (o:

It's nice to have some time out occasionally - good for you! I'll bet tomorrow you'll wake up feeling rejuvenated and ready to go.

Oh dear...I hope whatever it is doesn't stick around too long.
On the bright side - more lazing about taking it easy! And you have a ready-made excuse so you don't need to feel guilty about it.
