I smell of dust, old books and bluebells. I've started the process of pruning my flist. : comments.

Re: I did think about that...
If you are not mutually friended, your comments are not screened unless the LJer in whose journal you are commenting has set their journal to screen comments from non-friends by default. Which I assume, from what you say, is the case with some of those you regularly comment to. But it's not the default setting for everyone - comments on most LJs from non-friends (mine included) are not screened. Which you presumably know, right? I'm not being condescending if you do - it just sounded the way you said it like you thought all LJs were set up that way :-)

Which is kinda how I got into this mess in the first place... (o:
Re: I did think about that...
I hear you on the wankers. I've gone through phases when it's been necessary to do similar things - the whole plagiarism debacle resulted in me banning one person (guess who... LOL) and disabling anon comments because of the prats who were coming along and posting anonymously to give me a hard time. I've slackened off again now (I don't screen anything and all comments are enabled) but I do make a point of harvesting IP addresses, which tends to put the trolls and cowardly arseholes off. I've not had any problems recently, but if I ever do I'll just restrict comments to friends and ban anon commenters again for a time.
I do like having the opportunity to meet new people, though. The odd WIP I've posted recently has resulted in some new friendings of people I like very much indeed. My LJ life would not be as rich without them, for sure :-)
