I haven't been there, either -- they're not really up and running, yet. But I don't want to move twice. So I'm waiting and hoping... As say, if/when fandom moves in bulk, I'll go with them.

site, is it? I thought they were only creating an archive for fiction? It's been awhile, and my memory is going, but that's what I thought. Being wrong much of the time, however, means that I need to ask. *grin* So is OTW going to create an entire new blogging/journal site, or just an archive?

Yes, the whole closing-LJs-because-of-'underage-sex'-stories is what gave OTW the impetus to start. They want a LJ-type site that won't kick people of for fan-type behaviors, PLUS an archive, PLUS legal backup, etc. Whether or not it'll happen, we'll have to see, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Can you point me to that? All I see on journal and website is what was originally stated - an archive for fiction not a journal type site for blogging. I'm SO confused. :)

Maybe I'm misremembering -- but I'm sure they originally spoke of an LJ-clone, using the same software because it's open source, then they soon added archive, etc, so that all fandom-related interactions could occur in the same place.

But, you're right; I don't see it in their FAQ, so maybe I dreamed it up. I just asked the question under one of their posts. I'll let you know what they say.

that is unfortunate.... i agree with Aly that we should ask for one or at least find out if they thought about it and what kind of stuff they thought about it. i think a lot of people would be very happy with a fan-friendly and protected lj-clone.

Yeah. My fic-journal isn't paid and won't be, now. (I was thinking of upgrading.) I'll be happy to use the OTW archive for my stories, and move my talk-LJ.

As far as I can tell it still shows up in your interests list but they've removed certain specific interests, like bisexuality and fanfic (fanfic for heavens sake?!) from their official stats for... who knows what reasons (but I' guessing it has something to do with money, somewhere, somehow)?
