TS by BS to the website.

Don't hate me.

*G*

And I've been writingyay. Only 1,850 words - a fantasy story for a competition. I don't suppose it's any good. It's not at all my usual thing - I have a horrid feeling it could be construed as magical-realism (yeah; shit! I know... O:) but hey ho; it was just an exercise really, to try and get me writing again and it seems to have done the trick. Which is good. It's the first thing I've written in weeks.

I could never hate you ♥.

I'm so glad to hear that you are writing! It's so hard to get the momentum back when you stop, so good for you :-)

Well ditto, hon. ::simper:: (o:

I've been completely blocked, unable to write a word of anything for ages and going not so slowly mad a s a result. I have a couple of synopses to write tomorrow then I'm going to have an attempt at the Academy fic.

Maybe we're all finally getting our lives back on line? ♥

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that you've got the writing bug back! That's great news!

But what's so bad about magical-realism? (says the science-fiction/fantasy junkie...)

Nothing per se (though I personally find a lot of it tedious) - I used to read a lot of S. American m-r lit. And nothing wrong with Sci Fi - at least soft SF; I tend to dislike the stuff with too much pseudo-science and idiot names for everyone. I'm currently re-reading my way through the entire back catalogue of EDAs (Eighth Doctor Adventures). I have to say, anything with elves leaves me colder than an arse at an Arctic picnic.

Never thought I'd write anything so consciously 'magical' though. It's probably bollocks. (o:

Ah, I see what you mean, like Isabel Allende and The House of the Spirits? I read that, too, and didn't love it. Tedious is a good word. And I struggled through about half of One Hundred Years of Solitude before I gave up (although that was a long time ago, when I was in high school; maybe I'd like it better, now). But I don't feel like that genre has a lot in common with the fantasy stuff that I like.

::snort:: Too much Tolkien, eh?

::hugs you, delighted:: And I echo [livejournal.com profile] snycock -- what's so bad about magical-realism? (Except I add, sheepishly, what exactly *is* magical-realism? ::is sadly undereducated::)

And this will lead to complete unblockment in *all* writing directions; I know it will!

And don't "don't suppose it's any good". Pshaw. ::glares at you firmly::

Well, gosh. ::hugs you back::

magical realism is like, reality with a twist. Isabel Allende, Garcia Marquez kind of stuff.

Nothing wrong with it at all really; I read a ton of it back in the day, but got bored of it very quickly. I never thought I'd write anything of the sort myself - but it was for a fantasy writing competition and I thought it'd be a chance to try something new.

And don't "don't suppose it's any good". Pshaw. ::glares at you firmly::
You're very kind but honestly, I'm sure it really is the most awful bollocks, but since I didn't think I'd be able to write it at all, I'm faintly amazed to see the words on the... page? Screen - whatever. (o:

I could never hate you, either! *g*

In fact, I rather like TS by BS, if only for the wonderful fanfic it has inspired. =>}

Congratulations on the writing! Go you! =>}

What is this, the Love Train? *g* I loves you too, honey - could you ever doubt it?

LOL! No I couldn't! *g*

"Oh you like to think that you're
immune to the stuff, oh yeah!
It's closer to the truth,
you know you're gonna have to face it,
you're addicted to love.
You might as well face it you're addicted to love"

Heh heh! =>}

Good for you! Are you going to let us read it when the contest is over?

Maybe.

tbh, I don't think it's very good.

Hey. It might be the coolest bullocks story the reader ever read :D Besides, they're your words, coming from your *very* creative mind... joke 'em if they can't take a fuck ;))

Thanks for posting TSbyBS!

I'm gonna have a two minute girl cruch on gilly now....

that was supposed to be CRUSH, not cruch [slaps self]

Well I was wondering if maybe it was some Americanism I wasn't aware of.

I'm glad you're glad.

(I haven't forgotten about your vid btw - I've been having some technical difficulties. Please bear with me a little longer)

Hey, congratulations. Going back to writing is always a feat, and whatever gets you there worth it in its own right. But I'm sure, anyway, that it's not as "bad" as you fear.

And than you so much for TSbyBS. Downloaded it, got it on my HD, now I need to find a proper time to sit down and watch it.

Dang, you aren't by any chance filtering anonymous comments? If so, LJ might only having me on half as much because it's just told me that I posted my comment anonymously and now it's not here, and... rats, why wasn't I logged in? Anyway, just so you know that it was me when/if you find it in your inbox.

But since I'm here again I can ask this: Are we gonna see this "Magical-Realism"-story here eventually? Cause I'd be very interested to know what that is. I'm totally ignorant about what the different SF genres are called but this one sounds intriguing!

I screen anonymous comments so I can delete them if they're trolls (I had a spot of bother a year ago). I can see it. I've unscreened it - there, now everyone can see it. (o:

I shall think long and hard about posting the story but I'm not all that happy with it - it's just sentimental trash really *g*, I might post it, but only if I decide it's worthy. It still needs a bit of work, I think.
