Nice to see Steve Strange and his sisters on DW tonight. And Romans speaking modern, colloquial English! Glory be. That's going to annoy some people. Shouldn't they all be talking like Tony Curtis in a toga? (oops. is that my tongue slipping into my cheek? However did that happen?)

Speaking of which - SPARTACUS! heh! *G* She's from Barcelona. Don't get in a lava. Cheap Latin gags!  - Yea, verily, this season's pitched at my level; I like that. And LO! See! It's a quarry! Yay! Kay, it's supposed to be an Italian quarry - not a Buddleia in sight, but a quarry nonetheless. This has to be A Good Thing.

Not too happy about the Doctor with a gun - even a sparkly, yellow water pistol. It still had ammo that could hurt the MOTW - not really The Doctor's style; whatever happened to 'I'll kill you with this deadly jelly baby?'

But that was the only frowny point in what was a very, very nice eppy, I thought. I ADORED that penultimate TARDIS scene where Donna argues the non-interference case with the Time Lord - filled me with the most delicious shivers. Lovely. (o:

There were a few (slightly scary) nods to possible future canon being laid down (I always worry when RTD seems to be a dablin' in canon), but, that aside - most excellent. ::is nodding vehemently::

ETA: It's already up for download, btw - and there's a Wiki page, with a (dis) continuity guide and everything. Who fans; they're the best. Mental, mind, but very very keen..

::taps side of nose. Winks conspiratorially:: Not that I would ever... you know... ::crosses fingers::

Sorry; I wasn't thinking about spoilers. I tend to forget not everyone watches Saturday teatimes. I shall place the above behind a cut.

(sorry)

I am a big softy. Doctor Who gets me every time!

Very apt since I was at Ribchester today!

Loved it. Still love Donna - I have taken such a massive shine to her ♥

Now to get my monstrous children in bed... ::sigh::

Gods, that scene in the TARDIS when she appeals to him to rescue 'someone' and he goes through the whole 'I killed my people and destroyed my planet' bit... man; that was some serious acting. And the soothsaying scene; Gallifrey! The Doctor's face... ::sobs::

This is looking to be a breathtaking series, imho.

I feel truly vindicated over Catherine Tate. I knew she was going to be awesome and I think she is. The woman was an actress with the RSC no less; she wasn't always Lauren Cooper.

Now to get my monstrous children in bed... ::sigh::
Heh! I hope Ribchester was good for you all - a shame the weather's been so filthy.

I'm sorry, but I laughed at every single one of those latin gags. My IQ she is dropping.

And I adore Donna with a passion, especially in that purple togaish thingy.

You're right about the yellow sparkly water pistol -- it seemed a bit wrong. It made me slightly nostalgic for wobbly sets. (though YAY quarry! And YAY assistant about to get sacrificed! True retro moments.)

are always the best. A touch of Up Pompeii never did anyone iniuria. I was waiting for Biggus Dickus at one point but he never showed.

It was a very retro ep in many ways, especially the sisters of doom looking *very* eighties I thought; that and the Doc being very Sevenish... but no Mel (this was one of the Good things. Very much so). ::nodding::

Biggus Dickus! Nice!

I thought the sisters of doom looked well cool, but then I suppose I was a child of the 80s. And you're right about Doc being Sevenish -- it probably explains why I liked him this ep.

No Mel is good, though a little bit of Ace would have been fantastic. On second thoughts, no. I don't trust RTD to do right by her.

Yes, I found the gun thing a bit disturbing too, but only after having thought about it -- first reaction? Laughing head off because anyone pulling a yellow water gun out of their pockets? Cracks me up. Might of course be due to the half bottle of wine being consumed while watching.

Apart from that? Loved the episode, loved hearing how the Doctor sees the universe and hurt me to see him realize he had to bring about the destruction of Pompeii

And the Spartacus thing? Hilarious, as well as Donna trying Latin and coming out ...Welsh XD

And Phil Cornwell! ::loves!::

And you have an icon already! You're a woman after me own heart you are me ducks.
