My Flist had become the Sargasso sea. Ticking all those ticky-boxes, pressing all those 'leave this comm' links... Once I'd started, I couldn't stop; found a load of more-or-less moribund comms and before I knew it I'd cleaned out 33 of the buggers. Such larks! *g*
Well, there's being a fan and then there's being fannish. Sometimes it's just more enjoyable to keep the things you like to yourself or your close friends without letting the intarwebs in to sour them for you.
You did have a bunch of them on your profile page, which I looked at last night for your email address, because I wanted to send you a podfic of a story,Kind of Amazing that t_verano wrote for you with yousendit. The email I sent got bounced back, so did you get the podfic download link? If not, I'll send it to the email to lj, not the Temple of the Sentinels.
The Temple always eats my emails; to read em I have to go to the powweb web page -
could you send it to; maya dot paneka at gmail dot com? That's where I'm most likely to see it.
Thanks so much!
And comms - yup; some are just dead now, others are so full of wank I never read them - it was just time for a thorough clean out. If only Real Life was so easy... ::sigh::
Well I just got off the 2 dozen or so that were annoying me, plus the most busy fic-that-I-never-read orientedones that were scumming up my Flist and making browsing LJ a thorough-going pain in the arse.
I feel like I lost a stone. If only real life could be this easy. *g*
Hmm, I'm not on a lot of comms for the particular reason that I'm on here for the pl and to read. I did take down a lot of my NCIS comms when I stopped reading that fandom, so I understand.
I visit my Flist's profiles and... See the pretty; see how they shine. Clicky click, comm joined, Flist = huge, buggering mess. Hear me scream...
I just de-friended my Life on Mars com, a goodly number of Doctor Who fic coms and a fair few Sentinel ones too and my fannishness is greatly diminished these days. Sadly, I just don't have the time any more.
Urm... ::examines fingernails. Fails to make eye contact::
I'm trying to work on the novel and the sitcom, working on a proper synopsis for both this time so I have some structure (dammit!) because I was getting in a hopeless muddle. It's sort of coming on. Slowly. Well... not really. *g*
Hope you're having fun yourself, Oh my Little Ray of Sunshine. Friday tomorrow... (o:
Oookay, and now I realise you didn't write "33 TS LJ comms". Yeah, there's undoubtedly a heck of a lot more fandom-related comms than 33. Actually, come to think of it, there's probably a lot more than 33 TS related comms. Not that I've ever counted.
::feels stoopid::
This is what happens when you mainly stick to one fandom.
I'm fairly active in three fandoms and I'd joined a ton of others connected to travel, journalism, writing and etc. I had to prune, it was getting insane in here!
I am glad you feel better for trimming. I feel the same way when I go through my documents and get rid of junk. As you said, if only real life was this easy! :oD
I just had a tot up and I'm still on 73. I think more will have to go, especially some of the fic and fic-rec comms; I'm just not that fannish at the moment.
Recently, I made two categories for checking out my friends' page.
One has only the people with whom I actually "communicate" and whose every post I read.
The other has all the people and comms and such on my flist. I load both, check out the first one and skim through the other one. It's worked out well for me so far. =>}
I suppose I'm fairly patient, but we have high speed so the pages load pretty quickly and I am a speed reader, so I can quickly skim the headings and decide if I don't want to bother reading a comm's post or whatever.
There's a fine joy to feeling organised. I have quite a few comms bookmarked rather than on the flist. That way, I check them if I'm in the mood, and they don't take up space. Of course, I am still quite fannishly-natured right now...
Lol, I don't think I ever even was on 33 comms and still I think keeping up with my f-list is an impossible task these days. So Good For YOU! Must feel like unsubbing from lists.
Hope all is well! And even "sort of" writing is better than not at all, isn't it ? ;-)

Actually, it's going fairly well. I'm not writing prose as such but the plotting is coming on fine - I have all the components; now all I have to do is stitch it all together.

Indeed it is.
I think my fannish self is on sabbatical right now. Who can say when - if? - she will return. ::sigh::

I've stepped aside for a while. I feel I need the rest, you know?
Love that icon, btw. *g*

Good for you sweetie - you can always join again if you miss 'em... And you're writing? Yay! Go you ::beams::
