Too cool for subject

Well, I have to admit that I gave up on it eventually. Part of it is the TL;DR, part of it is that I'm actually supposed to be working and part of it is that I simply haven't seen most of the episodes this season.

One thing that occurs to me, though. The emotional Doctor, the lonely Doctor, the companion dependent Doctor, the Tardis dependent Doctor, all of those things got their start in the novels rather than the current series. It doesn't negate any of his arguments, as the current series is definitely following a 'modern television' model, but to some extent I think it undercuts him.
