Too cool for subject
I've had a hell of a time uploading it. I think I need more coffee.

Ah, those fake feds... (o:
I'm delirious with squee that you liked it, honey. ::takes Rhianne down a dark alley and smooches her shamelessly till she begs me to stop::
Re: Ah, those fake feds... (o:
Ahem... *giggles*
You...shameless doxy you!!
So - I suspect you've worked out about as much of part 3 as I have the next installment of Call of the Wild, huh? ::looks shifty::
Re: Ah, those fake feds... (o:
Urm... possibly? I has notes... Lots and lots of notes. (o:
Too cool for subject
Your Jim and Blair are so desperately brave somehow; not heroes who can't be defeated, but men doing the best they can, even with the gifts they have.
I loved the way you wove the mystical elements into the mundane details to make a cohesive whole and the story was compelling and exciting to read.
Gosh...
'I loved the way you wove the mystical elements into the mundane details...' and what you said about J&B being everyday heroes fills me with joy because that's exactly what I was hoping to achieve - that sense that, the ordinary world is also extraordinary, especially for those individuals like Blair - and Jim too (though he can't quite see it yet) who can see past the everyday and the mundane.
The last part of the trilogy will be Jim's story; Jim the shaman... because he *so* is. (o:
Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to comment, hon. That was wonderful. (o:

Mmmm, coffee...
I really hope you enjoy it.
I read it
I am so glad it will be a sequel.
Bravo.
Re: I read it
Too cool for subject
Evil Feds next, huh? That's always fun. :-)
Too cool for subject
Ah... but are they feds (like I know *g*)? Whatever the case, it'll be a while before I can get it under-way - it took me months to get this one done and all I have for part three is a handful of notes but I hope it won't take as long as this one did!
Anyway hon, thanks for commenting. I'm glad you liked it.
Too cool for subject
Well dang!
I have ideas for what's going to happen in part 3 but only ideas, notes - lots of notes. *g* But that's how I write all my stories - let Jim and Blair decide what's going to happen next (why should I do the work, you know?) I have another WIP on the go, as soon as the end's in sight with that, I'll make a start on part 3 but I can't say when it'll be done because I'm not the fastest writer, you know. (o:
Thanks so much for that stunning fb, hon - I'm cock a hoop that you liked it so much.
Too cool for subject
Great! I'll be rereading both very soon!
And you're welcome. Thanks for the mention of what you call "the super-fast final beta". *g*
Too cool for subject
I hope it holds up on a re-reading. (o:
Too cool for subject
I have often been told that I am a speedy beta. *g*
I only hope that's a GOOD thing. =>}
It certainly WILL hold up on a rereading!!! =>}

I just wanted to say "SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
Thank you.

Part 3 is in the planning stage... she lied (lol! Like I ever 'plan' anything! It will happen, as soon as I can get my act together). Thanks so much; I'm thrilled you liked it.
'keep penning'
You too! Thanks again.
Too cool for subject
And I still have not made it back in lj to leave fb for Academy!
Squeeeeeeeeee!
Hold that squeak...
'still have not made it back in lj to leave fb for Academy!'
Oh heck, forget about that; just so long as you read it, I'm happy. I should have a new piece of that up tomorrow, I just need to read it through.
'Squeeeeeeeeee!'
Ah, shucks... I *really* hope you enjoy it. ::fingernails almost all gone now::
Too cool for subject
Oh wow - congratulations! I didn't realise you were on the cusp of posting... and oh bugger, no time to read straight away - I'll have to grab and run. Wheeeeeeee! I'm so happy to have a new one of yours to read!

I love the connection between the icy spirit world’s angel dust and the communicating Blair and Jim do with their eyes. And keeping secrets from each other – you just know that’s going to be trouble. Cool how Jim can sense that Blair has been sliding into the spirit world and that there is this indefinable missing quality about Blair when he does it.
Ah… Love this part How could Jim comprehend how his body sometimes felt like ill fitting clothes; tight and snagging and painful, and how, sometimes… Sometimes he longed to slip it off and walk naked in the world.
Hmm. Blair’ sensing auras. (Jim + beer = happier aura)
Jim senses that Powell is more formidable by using what they are going to figure out are his own Shamanism powers. Makes a lot of sense, as Jim does spirit walks, has visions, sees his spirit animal, can talk to the Dead and he brought Blair back. Interesting twist to add Shamanism powers into the senses mix.
They really are bonding now, sharing emotions and thoughts.
(and I have to go to bed. I have to go to work fairly early tomorrow - I’ll comment more later)
Laurie
Thanks...
It's always been in my mind - how did Jim fetch Blair back from the dead? This is beyond the normal 'sentinel' stuff, surely? Of course, there's the whole 'sacred bond' theory but fetching a soul back from the dead is classic shamanism, as is the whole spirit animal shebang and I wondered - does Jim have shamanistic abilities of his own? Maybe something happened to Jim, that initiated him as a shaman but he got scared of it. He is (canonically) unhappy with the mystic side and I can't help pondering on why (see part 3).
But I'm glad you liked it, thanks so much for reading and commenting; it's always *very* much appreciated.

Palmer seems to be hitting on Blair.
Blair is projecting his emotions to Jim. He's empathic
Columbo - HA!
Cool that the way they enter each other's minds paralles the way their bodies are entering each other to make love.
The scene in the alley -- scary, I think my heart was beating as fast as Blair's.Tandem work, senses and empathy.
Powell picked up men in the clubs on pretexts and brought them to the killing fields. Does that mean Tom was cheating on his roommate lover?
Powell's death just released him to be able to fulfill his revenge on Blair. He probably couldn't have gotten close to Blair when he was alive, not with Jim guarding him with his senses. How ironic that killing him, which Jim partly did to protect Blair and himself was the act that allowed Powell to capture Blair. Of course, Powell couldn't have done it if Blair hadn't placed himself in the spirit world. Or maybe he would have come after Blair some other way? When Blair was asleep, maybe?
OMG! Blair!
Caretaking is so exhausting. Jim's own energy levels have to be in danger of being drained.
Jim has a bias against Shamans that aren't in a tribal culture. He can't believe Powell was taught anything by the new-age guru shaman and he's highly doubtful about Jeff, when he sees him dressed like the college professor he is. And Eli is great -- accepting and helpful, even if he doesn't have any powers himself. And I love the thought that Blair's sense of direction -- or to be more exact-- his lack of sense of direction in the real world, is being thought of as a reflection in the spirit world. I'd like to see Blair refute that 'slur' on his directional ability when he feels much better.
Jim's being anal about his tea cup. So Jim.
Powell's collecting souls as trophies is wierdly fascinating
Prometheus is my favorite of the Titans and gods.
The homeless man who helped Blair, If he doesn't have a part in the next story, he deserves a little fic of his very own.
Eli and Jeff did some kind of grounding thing when Jim went to the other side, when they held his ankles and his head.
Negative reinforcement to stop the ghost souls from powering Powell. Nice twist to using psychology.
the energy circuit- the circle -- makes me think of other rituals done in circles -- from smoking pot in circles of friends (a long time ago) to drumming circles -- circle dances - people whirling in energy- very holistic concept here -- I don't know if you made it up or it's a shamanic thing but it feels right.
Jim went prepared to fight Powell, but... did he? or did the passive resistance of Blair and the ghosts wear Powell out so much, that when the other two shaman souls escaped, he had no energy left to do anything other than talk with Jim. And we don't know if he crossed over,do we. Guess we'll find out next story, maybe.
Ooh! Bad guys coming for them. And the astral plane a constant temptation to Blair, the mystical world has changed them both so much, I wonder how they look to others, especially old friends like Simon.
Gilly, I loved it so very much.
Laurie
Well holy moly...
The circles and all the shaman things are real; the whole notion of possessing many souls to give a shaman power is (as Blair says) Jivaro, the stuff about not empowering the angry by feeding them more anger is pure hippie philosophy. I have no idea if it would work.
As for the defeat of Powell - I'd envisioned and planned a chapter in which Jim does epic battle with Blair's help but it just didn't happen that way and in the end, I thought draining Powell by denying him energy seemed better, more *right* somehow - almost Ghandiesque. I'll probably develop that in the next story when they return to the Temple - but the next one has to be Jim's story; what Jim gets out of all this as they fight the bad guys.
Thanks so much for thoughts and insights - that was interesting and, actually, really helpful and I'm thrilled you liked it.

I loved it! The way you describe them in eachothers heads, the colours... Beautiful. How long for the next installment do you think? *battes eyelashes*
Too cool for subject
If you'll have me hon.
How glad am I you loved it? (very) - thrilled to my little pink underpants (they're not that little. And they're not pink).
Part three... Urm *g* I really can't say. I should be starting it *fairly* soon but it's likely to be a long one. Should be sometime this year.
Thanks so much, for reading, for commenting, for liking! ::smooching hard, kissing wetly::

The flowers, the banquet...! :)
I can wait...a little...okay dammit, as long as it takes your perfect little fingers to type it.
*wet smooches are returned and doubled*
PS - Don't you just love the internet? ;0)

Does I get the slowest reader award? Does I? Does I?
::bounces like Tigger on speed::
I've finally finished, and I love it to bits. No, I don't, I adore it.
I love the imagery, the darkness and the angst; at the same time it feels so calm, so certain that Jim and Blair will prevail that my fingernails have survived intact. And feeding Jim cake and cookies to build up his strength had me curling my toes with pleasure.
Thank you for the fabulous read ::smooches you shamelessly:: and I'm so happy to see the words 'first sequel to chasing Rainbows' because I'm already lusting for more.
My oh my
Thanks so much - I'm beyond thrilled you liked it so much and another part to come, indeed; back to the jungle with Eli and those ebil en on their trail. I still have quite a lot of thinking to do on that, and another WIP to finish but I should start writing it fairly soon.
Thanks so much, babe. ::Sees your smooch and returns you a sloppy kiss::

((hugs))
Thank you!!!
Ah...
Like I just said to Snail I'm awed and incredibly thrilled that people have enjoyed this so much. I was really worried about posting it because I thought those who'd enjoyed Rainbows would be disappointed because AD lacks the sweetness of CR.
I'm... astonished, really, by how kind everyone's been. I'm so pleased you liked it and hope you enjoy part three just as much.

The idea of Blair being seduced by his own shamanism and then trapped in his mind was fascinating. Of course, now we're all waiting on tenterhooks to find out what's up with all the shadowy bad guys... But you ended this fic on an upbeat note with the mindmelding and happy relationship stuff. Nummy. More!
DR
Sorry to be slow responding...
I'm really glad you enjoyed it and took the trouble to seek me out to feed me back. (o:
I'm sort of working on the sequel now, making notes and trying to decide where it's all going to go - but I have another WIP to finish first, so it might be a few months yet.
Thanks again, anyway, for reading and commenting; it's always appreciated.
