...for old apple varieties for the garden, I find  Ellison's Orange. 'Intense rich aromatic flavour with a hint of aniseed'.

for someone (anyone!) who can supply a Taylor's Gold pear tree in the UK. There must be someone... I needs me them pears!

I fail at varieties... I just know which tree in my friend's orchard tastes the nicest, and that's the one I shake *g*

Taylor's Gold's a NZ variety that seems to do well in cool, damp climates. It's a gorgeous pear, fragrant, impossibly juicy and sweet, with a russet skin, like the apple. You'll find it in most supermarkets here in the spring and I loves them I do. I'd like my own tree but can I find a nursery selling them? ::shakes head::

But I am incredibly persistent when it comes to edibles. (o:
