Hilary chats to rivals Mr (off camera) and Mrs Shenton, who took the trophy this year.

A brace of H's prize-winning wines. The Dandelion took first, the Lemon Balm second in the sweet whites section - a very young elderberry (three weeks old! lol!)  took third in the dry reds (which bodes well for its future).

Hmm, don't like sweet wine as a rule ('xcept with Christmas Pud) but Lemon Balm wine sounds very intriguing!

Glad you liked them.

I'm not fond of sweet wines either, unless they have plenty of fruit to balance the sweetness. I'm hugely fond of Muscat de Valencia. Hilart's sweet wines are too sweet for me, I prefer her dry wines. The rosehip, which didn't win anything, is my favourite. The Lemon Balm is a little like a pale sherry - it always does well in the show but I'm not over-fond. My Dad loves it. (o:

These were a lot of fun! Made me wish I could be there. We have county fairs, which are sort of similar, but no booze-making allowed.
