panik: (Not Writing (Hank))

So, I suppose I'd best add my chestnut to the fire. This year I wrote several thousand more words of Blue.

Urm.

That's it.

I can't even post a link because it's a wip and it's in a closed com. ::shrug:: It is very very long ::she said defensively:: It should have been a bit longer today but instead of writing fic, as planned, spent much of my day capping Arthur of the Britons. I know. I'm sorry. I can't seem to help myself. I think I have a problem. I'll try to make this the last time I spam you but I'm only at the end of disc 1 (of 4) so I can offer no promises...

Did no one, at any stage hesitantly raise their  hand and politely suggest; look here chaps, isn't this all looking a bit, you know - a wee bit camp...?

Ah, the old hurt/comfort. Whatever the fandom, tis always a delight and a joy.

And I haven't even started on Brian Blessed. :o)

Right, well, I'd best go and put some dinner together for tis the Top Gear Vietnam special in an hour and I needs must be sat down and comfy  in front of a TV with a mince pie and a glass of sloe gin. I hope the season is bringing you all joy, my lovelies. ::sending kisses under the blazing advent crown*::

A wee bit camp?! Well, yes, bless and love. And you can't stop before you get to Mr Blessed ::stamps foot::

Ooh Top Gear - i need to sort myself out for that. I have to be on the floor, or else I fall off the furniture laughing and hurt myself ::nods::

Blazing advent crown - sounds like Blue Peter strikes again... kids these days just don't get to have that sorta fun.

::blows boozy kisses::

I can deny you nothing, my loveliest love.

OMG! Did you see? DID YOU SEE? Silk suits! Wrecked galleons. Helmits with Penis on the side! Head-butted gentlemen's areas! Wasn't it a most splendid Top Gear? Oh yes indeedy!

Oh my my - he was very, um... built back then. He takes OTT to new levels. ::loves::

Oh god, I'm still hurting from laughing too much. Ow ow ow! Utterly brilliant, plus good grief how gorgeous is Vietnam? Wow!

I have always wanted to go to Vietnam. We used to know a lot of Vietnamese peeps back in Cuba; they are such lovely, gentle, happy, funny people. It's now going to the top of my must-see list. I wonder what the current £ - Dong (soggy or dry) exchange rate is?

I knew there was a reason I avidly watched this back in the day. My proto-slasher tendencies were bubbling away in my psyche, obviously. *g*

I always harboured the suspicion/hope that the Arthur/Kai dynamic would be slashy. I'm hugely gratified to see I wasn't wrong. I suspect the slash gene is strong and not to be denied even at a tender age and in more innocent times.

But you've also written a lot on Entanglement, and your other profic stuff; don't forget that!

The pic spam is very lovely. I especially like that first one with the naked chest shot. I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing Brian Blessed (I just adored him in Flash Gordon)

Plz see my response to Snail. :o) I've got 3 more discs to watch yet. I shall continue to post as I come across the slash because I just can't help myself. They're such a pretty couple. :o)

But you've also written a lot on Entanglement...
Ah, yeah, I know. Tbh, my novelly-writings have more or less taken over and there just hasn't been the creative juice for fanfic this year. I'm pleased with the way Blue is progressing but it'll be a while yet before it's done. Tis going to be a most goodly length. *g*

OMG! I have never heard of this show, and I'm not sure I want to. But just from looking at your caps, I'd have bet it was about men in drag. Good grief! Sloe gin definitely seems required while watching.

It was a kids show. I was 12 when it was on and was pretty obsessed. I was so thrilled to get it on DVD for Christmas and I'm falling in love all over again.

Men in drag? Men in DRAG?!!! O:! That was very manly wear in the sixth century I'll have you know! This is King Arthur and his... friend Kai. How dare you, madam, I shall have satisfaction!

<<Men in DRAG??>>

Well, that fox stole .... er, manly animal skin .......... 'nuff said.

Yes, I, too, would have loved this show as a kid. And I'd probably love it now if I were drinking sloe gin (gosh, haven't had sloe gin since college when it was poured into fruit punch).

I'm probably just jealous. American TV is sadly lacking these days. No decent reruns at all.

No decent reruns here, either, sadly (Arthur's on a DVD I got for Christmas. I haven't seen it since 1973, hence my giddy excitement) though, tbh, there's plenty of excellent new stuff around and these days the slash is pretty much canon. I'm not complaining. *g*

manly animal skin
Indeed! It was the Dark Ages, different rules applied. *BG*

A wee but camp??? Obviously I missed some of the subtle-as-an-atom-bomb-subtext as a kid... :)

I checked out the fanfic meme but umm, mostly wrote ficlets, long and short.

posted by [identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com at 10:02pm on 28/12/2008
Ack. I was going to check it out for myself but admit I had low hopes of teh fic, what with it being so long ago and mostly forgotten. hey ho. I'm game (like I have the time, alas)!

posted by [identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com at 10:07pm on 28/12/2008
and I now see you're talking about the fic wot I wrote meme and not AotB fic. My brain is a little one-track these days. *g*

More lovely caps to whet my appetite! Amazon.co.uk tells me that my order has been dispatched so it's just a matter of waiting now.
Hey, you may not have written a lot, but I just saw the LMFA results - congratulations! The Angst category is owned by you, both slash and gen. All hail the queen of Angst!

::cue insane laugh:: Ha ha ha ha! It's true! ::needs icon!::

I'm looking forward to talking AotB with you. Be warned, it's not the best quality - kinda faded and the sound's a bit poppy sometimes. Also, they clearly weren;t too fuddy about their locations - tractor tracks and hideous modern agricultural landscapes abound. You have to close your eyes to it and enjoy the pretty men cuddling and fighting and comforting each other. *g*

Guess what arrived today.... you're not wrong about the quality, but OMG it's Arthur! And his touchy-feely friend Kai! One episode in and I'm counting the cuddles already.
enjoy the pretty men cuddling and fighting and comforting each other.
So, what's not to like?
The hardest bit is rationing portions - one epi a night while I eat my dinner.

*waves hello at you and the pretteh*

Hello from a gratified complete stranger who stumbled on your LJ/gallery while looking for AOTB stuff (I've spent today capping/vidding the damn thing meself :)

Lovely to see another fan out there!

Yay! Another Antipodean fan! (see also: [livejournal.com profile] mab_browne [livejournal.com profile] sallymn [livejournal.com profile] miwahni *G*) I guess it was big down there? I watched it avidly as a kid and wrote fanfic in my head. :o) Thrilled to see another fan! - did you get the DVD for Christmas too? I was stunned, didn't even know it was out on DVD.

So, I've friended you, welcome to my madness. I hope you won't live to regret it. ::strokes big, white cat::

I've done a fair few caps - check an earlier post (might have been on Christmas Day. I was in a state of some excitement... *G*) And now I'm rushing of to check out your caps...

It was a firm favourite during mid-80s school holidays - buried during daytime TV - hmm, just after Coronation Street maybe? What with that, the Tripods, and Aunty ABC's predilection for old Robin Hood reruns, adolescence in Oz was fun :)

I haven't put any actual pics up yet - too busy ripping/converting in order to do evil things for Youtube (hopefully). Just begs for it, doesn't it? I got the DVD when it came out in England, but have only just now had time to actually sit down and wallow :)
