Passing this on courtesy of the always-informed [livejournal.com profile] omphalos

Apparently, the bookies have suddenly slashed the odds on...

The Infant Phenomenon Who he? He looks about 12.

Oh fuck.

I'll take what they choose to give with an open mind but I was really hoping for a move away for the drive to teenage girly-pandering, but then this is the BBC and this is what they do these days. We can hope for a repeat of the magnificence that was Peter Davison I suppose but I feel a depressing move towards Merlinism if this turns out to be the case. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, hoping for a return to a Doctorish Doctor. Still hoping for PJ, really but Knowing the BBC as I do (and that's quite well, aamof) this is just too, too, horribly probable.

Fuck.

And I was feeling so chipper about it all, too.

I'd never heard of the beggar, but I can believe it because he's in the Eccleston/Tennant mould (and not female or non-white). But it'd be nice to be surprised.

a little imagination wouldn't have gone amiss, would it? but this is the BBC we're talking about. ::heaves heavy sigh::

Oh! icon love!

I have never heard of him.

Dammit, he is too young to be the Doctor. I do not believe that he is almost the same age as me, not at all.

he is way too young and pretty. I need an element of quirky eccentricity in my Doctors. I=::Is not impressed at all::

They seem to get younger every time :-(

Now, ASH would've been nice...but he already played a villain.

Nothing wrong with young - Peter Davison was fantastic, but it has to be for the right reasons. This guy's been picked specifically to continue pandering to the teenage fans and it's really saddened and annoyed me.

I'm ready to give the guy a chance but I'm probably in the market for a new fandom. Difficult. There's bugger all around right now. ::sigh::

I am seriously underwhelmed. He may be good, but we'll just have to wait and see. I really wanted them to go with someone like PJ, be a bit more adventurous!

My heart is irreprably broken. ::sigh:: OK, the guy might be amazing - the best Doctor ever. We won;t know for a year but... I'm not optimistic. I think maybe the time has come to lay aside fannish things and get on with having some sort of Real Life. ::sighs again::

I will...reserve judgement. My squee has been harshed for some time now and, to be honest, I'm more concerned about whether or not the writing will disappoint me than whether or not the actor will. For now, I'll trust that he can fill those (admittedly large) shoes.

I hear that.

I was squeeful at the change of writer but I lost a lot of faith in Moff over Silence in the Library. I await 2010 with considerably less anticipation than I did, I must say.

I still haven't seen Silence in the Library. I lost faith after Last of the Time Lords and wasn't able to really drum up interest in the current series. I watched a marathon of it on BBCAmerica last weekend, but they only went as far as The Unicorn and the Wasp.

My hope has been based less on The Moff in particular and more on 'Anybody but RTD.'
