Yes, it's all over for another year. The Crimbo decs have been taken down, packed in their boxes and stacked in the loft. Another poor, parched tree, dropping needles has been safely dumped deposited down the side garden to join three of its brethren. Aforementioned pine needles have been hoovered - though a few will no doubt come back to attack bare feet for the next several months.
I have scrubbed. The house is all clean and shiny and smelly with beeswax, I have a mug of Rose Pouchong and the last mince pie and am sitting on the sofa watching Lord Bernard of Cribbins! in Dalek Invasion Earth O:! Gosh golly, I remember Mum taking me to see this one matinee at the Odeon on Pond Street. ::sigh::
It's still insanely cold. The snow is crisp and frozen. I've been up since dawn...
Cause it's so durn purty.
.

And now I have to walk three miles to Penistone because we are out of milk and bread. That should be fun ::she sneered with the deepest possible sarcasm:: *g* Christmas cake and warm sloe gin when I return.

Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing with us. =>}
I announced to J. last night that I'm not ready to take down my Xmas decorations yet. I'm still really enjoying them and don't want the letdown that accompanies their disappearance yet.
And our daughter and Benjamin are coming to visit on Thursday and they enjoy them too.
J. said that was fine with him. I HAVE taken away the Advent Calendar-type items and some of the more truly Xmasy/Santay items, but for now, the rest will stay.
I know. I'm very silly. But I take what joy I can from the little things like this. In a week or so, I KNOW I'll be tired of the stuff hanging around and will then be ready to dismantle it all. *g*

It's not a superstition for me. Just a family tradition. I didn't know there WAS a superstition tied to it until you mentioned it. *g*
I just like seeing the lights on the tree longer. And Benjamin will enjoy the decorations during his visit, too. =>}

(I've also taken down most of my Christmas stuff. sigh It always makes me a bit sad to put it all away!)
Happy New Year!
What're you talking about?
I love the cold. I get all sleepy and hopeless when it's warm, the cold is so energising.
Each to their own. Enjoy your warm, then (if that's what you have). :o)
Re: What're you talking about?
My son, who was born and raised here, now goes to school in Chicago where it's icy and snowy a good bit of the winter. He tells me it's the best so I guess you're right about folks enjoying different weather!
