Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... (this is the sound of me, musing)

Jim's a tricky cove to write, isn't he? He is for me, anyway. Blair, I can connect to; I can channel Blair in a way I've never really been able to with Jim. I've always found him hard to write and this afternoon, he's being particularly obstreperous. I need him to emote, but in a Jim-like way; quietly, internally; he's just this big old iceberg, nine tenths below the surface -a nd it's all so internalised and he's so terribly confused and conflicted and angry and sad, poor lamb...

He's coming along, but far from nicely.

I always have this problem, when I've been away from a story for too long; I have to read it all through a couple of times and really think hard about where everyone is - what they're thinking, why they're doing what they're doing - before I can start writing again and when writing again = Jim being all repressed and emotional and weepy and sexy... it's a toughie, but I'm doing my best. *g*

I got a lot done on my novel this morning without a single word of actual writing; I did it all in here (taps head) - but made a few notes so I'll know what's going on when I go back to it later - because it's all in the characters - the story has to unfold very slowly through their eyes and, having come to the end of a long stretch of what can only be called P.L.O.T, I'm back to learning why things are happening through the thoughts and feelings of the protagonists - which means I have to start thinking again - and there's one major character I haven't even introduced yet. I think maybe I should do him next.

And while all this goes on in my head, I find myself plagued with a Ten/Master bunny that will not let go. I'm terrified I'm about to commit Who-Fic...

Anyway, sorry for the meaningless ramble. I just needed a break from Jim really.

And my coffee's gone cold. Hey ho...
