Slash Fiction Day

I can HIGHLY recommend this! [profile] alibongo, Rae and I went last year and it was a TOTAL blast! If anyone's thinking of going along, let me know and we can make up a party. Last time, Ali and I really regreted not booking into a b&b or Travel Lodge or something as we really felt we missed out by having to shoot off right after the seminar ended. If we all booked in somewhere, we could go to the pub, post-producton, have dinner and just generally relax and enjoy it a little more.
Anyone up for that?

SLASH 2: THE 2nd DMU FANFICTION STUDY DAY

Faculty of Humanities, De Montfort University, Leicester, UK.

Tuesday 27th February 2007

10.00 am – 6.00 pm

After the success of last year’s Slash Fiction Study Day, Slash 2 offers another slash-friendly forum for discussion of the most exciting developments in fanfic.

The main focus will be on slash fiction, a category of fan stories, almost exclusively by women, about homoerotic affairs between male characters in popular films and TV series. Proposals are invited, however, for papers on all fanfic topics and controversies.

Papers are especially welcome for panels on fan films, yaoi and
Brokeback Mountain.

Please send an abstract of 200 words for a 20 minute paper to Dr
Ian Hunter, iqhunter@dmu.ac.uk or to the following address:

Dr
Ian Hunter

Principal Lecturer in Film Studies

Faculty of Humanities

De Montfort University

Clephan Building

The Gateway

Leicester LE1 9BH

DEADLINE FOR PROPOSALS: 15th December 2006
All readers, writers and academic researchers of fan fiction, as well as interested members of the public, are welcome to participate.

Attendance fee: £20 / £12 concessions for the day.  Please contact
Ian Hunter at iqhunter@dmu.ac.uk to reserve a place.

Slash 2 launches a series of regular seminar and lecture events hosted by the Cult Media Research Group.

Incidentally, is anyone thinking of submitting a paper? I'm fairly tempted myself, but I'm horrible when it comes to delivering them. I suffer really bad stage fright.  )o:

Drat - I can't make it... unless they can shove it a couple of hundred miles south? Or fix it for me to have a major lottery win? Or a worm hole? That might work... *g*
