Last of the Summer Wine is on in the background.

Don't worry, the sound is down, I am in no danger.

I was musing on the fact that hardly any of the original cast are still extant. I think Roy Clarke is still writing it but he's 79 now and it suddenly occurred to me that, the whole show has become PG Wodehouse's typewriter!

PGW owned the same typewriter from 1912 until his death in 1975 but by that time, every single part of it had been, at some time replaced, leading to the deep and philosophical conundrum; was it still, in actual fact, the same typewriter? ::cue spooky music::

Will Last of the Summer Wine, like Pelham Grenville's beloved Royal, go on and on and on until every actor in the English-speaking world has died? It's a frightening thought.

My aunt had a 1965 VW bug like that typewriter. Over the years, the tires, the engine, the windshield both of the doors, the exhaust system, and most of the undercarriage were replaced, and now that she's gone, her grandson is driving it! But is it the same car???

And if a man speaks in the forest, is he still wrong?

Philosophical questions for our time. ::nods sagely::

I'm aware that every cell in our bodies gets replaced in seven-year cycles. Should we wonder if *we* are the same persons we were seven years ago? hmmmm... :o)

Well indeed. I find myself musing on these things more and more, perhaps it's old age? :o)

...and yet more...

I've searched for LotSW on DVD or video, but can find only three or four of the earlier seasons available. Would you have a clue?

Well, Amazon.co.uk have them up to seasons 13 and 14 - maybe more if you delve? They'll be region 2 of course.

Otherwise I'd suggest you download it? Do you do bit torrents, because the latest ep. is always up at the dl sites within an hour of broadcast.
