Bleedin' Nora that seems pretty expensive. I already pay for LJ, I really can't stretch to that as well, its going to have to be either/or for me.

I had a bit of a look at it a couple of weeks back, and logged on with OpenID, but can't see myself paying for the site either. If someone sent me an invite code I *might* use the place as a backup for LJ, but as I bought myself a permanent LJ account last Christmas I don't feel the need to move.

ONLY if I get an invite, then I would have it as a back up... again like IJ. But I am not paying money for a journaling site. I don't pay for this one, why should I pay to be exclusive?

They've just emailed about going live:

Dreamwidth will launch to open beta and account creation at 9PM EDT on April 30.

At that time, we will provide invite codes to all existing users for them to hand out to their friends.

So there should be plenty of codes going for everyone. ::fingers crossed::

having to pay the $3 though. And you'll lose a lot of perks that we have here for a free (plus) account that aren't offered at DW if you let the first paid month lapse and go free. :(

Yeah. I'm going to take a lot more persuading to leave LJ from what I've seen so far. I'm cosy here.
