I'm delighted by this bit:

They can't 'ere :) it's (still!) sold shrink-wrapped and with an adult-only R sticker. Shame really. It's probably a damn sight healthier than Dolly :)

Well, that's probably as it should be. I'm all in favour of free expression but that book was hard for me to take, I wouldn't want 10 years olds reading it to be frank.

Good article on the whole, I thought, though very lit-fic oriented, but then as a writer and prof of English lit, that is his bag, I suppose.

Well done! I was all set to do one myself on the fact that he speaks almost entirely about lit-fic when I'd say (I could be wrong), HP aside, the net is dominated by TV based fic - all moot cause in the end, I couldn't come up with anything sufficiently coherent to say. :o) John Sutherland's a groovy bloke though, he may even follow this up if he gets enough interesting comment.
