Gods, I HATE tennis.

Bloody, bloody Wimbledon. It infests our screens for two weeks a year like an itchy and embarrassing skin disease. It is made of the most epic dull - and now I find they've cancelled Supersizers because of it, the only thing worth watching today.

Do not cross me people, for I have killed before.

Oh, thank God. I LOATHE WIMBLEDON. Thought I was the only one :)

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Man makes consistently accurate job of hitting a ball with a bat. OK. And...?

I hate all tennis, Windybum just happens to be the most persistent offender on our screens, everything stops for it, everything Actually I hate practically all sports. It all seems so utterly, utterly pointless.

[identity profile] epistrophia.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that's why... we couldn't work out why it was cancelled. It's all because of the Centre Court roof. Which got cheers today, for doing what it's supposed to do. I suppose it will knock Michael J off the top spot of the news tomorrow, at least...

[identity profile] davidbrider.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too.

Well, that's three of us - perhaps we can form an anti-fan-club?

[identity profile] tx-cronopio.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm in! I'll bring snacks. I'm quite good at snacks.

Count me in.

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll bring wine, it has pleasing numbing qualities.

It's still on.

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to scream.

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm here, whenever anyone needs a shoulder. ::nods::

[identity profile] justmej.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I have killed before. Channelling Jeremy Clarkson, this must be bad..

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I dream of channelling Jezza C.

[identity profile] cerebralpig.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It's outrageous! No supersizers. :(

More in sorrow than in anger.

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
They have no shame.

[identity profile] therentgirls.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I feel the same about golf.

[identity profile] betagoddess.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh boy. While others on my flist are posting away about the tennis, here you are hating it. I was beginning to wonder if everyone over there loved tennis. *g*

Not a big fan of sports on TV at all, but luckily, this time of year, there are none that interfere with any of our viewing. =>}

Good luck!

Hate the tennis - love the tight white shorts. I'm so easy to please. *g*

Oh my god, I felt this exact same thing as soon as I turned the telly on at nine! I can't believe they didn't show it!! I was really excited and then...nothing but stupid crimewatch and wimbledon...poop to them!!!

Glad someone else shares my pain!

LOL...you should try being me.

I work for a TV station that airs Wimbledon. For two weeks we do not have a noon newscast because of this thing that NO ONE watches.

I shudder to think how much money we loose every year on commercials we cannot air.

:::whacks network with tennis racket:::

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Golf yeah. That too. And you can add in cricket, athletics, rugby, snooker, racing of any kind and - oh, all of it, really. I don't mind sport if you can escape from it but Wimbledon is so all-pervasive and everything has to stop for it and - no. Just, NO!

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I tolerate most sports if they keep to their proper place and don't dominate the TV and push everything else aside. Wimbledon and snooker are the worst offenders. It's not like I even watch a lot of TV, there are a very few shows I really like and they're the ones getting cancelled for tennis. Makes me want to scream - a LOT.

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Even short white shorts cannot compensate for the horror of tennis in my world, I'm afraid. hey ho, I just switch off and eat strawberries instead (of which more later for OMG!they have gone mental in the garden. There will probably certainly be pix later *G*)

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Poop to them indeed! I shall point my farty old dog in their direction if it happens again, that'll learn em.

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Well the BBC show Wimbledon here so there are no ads but - if no one likes it, why do they show it? Do your sports-nuts not like teh tennis then? It's insanely popular in the UK. Me? I just abhor all sports tbh. Footy I can stand for short periods but the rest... ::see my bored and angry face::

I have no problem with sport when it doesn't get in the way but Wimbledon, like snooker, seems to dominate ALL for the time it's on and everything has to make way for it. It's a huge, bruising, bullying, tank-like event for which have no tolerance, none at all!!!

[identity profile] bubbleslayer.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Tennis is probably one of the least popular sports in the US. It's more of a novelty than something a lot of people follow, so I don't get why we have to run it during the week. Weekends sure, but weekday afternoons?

[identity profile] betagoddess.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)

Here, it's mainly during the American Basketball season. They go on and on and the station never airs the show I want in full, but starts it "in progress". I just hate that! =<{}

"in progress".

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you mean they start the show halfway through? In which case, what the frack...?!
Here they just cancel all existing schedules till the Big! important game is over - we will get our shows, just not now, you know - some as-yet-to-be specified time in the future. I understand that it's a BIG game, a once or never thing for those who care about it and I don't usually whine but after two weeks of it I start getting a bit frayed around the edges, you know? Makes me tear my hair a bit. :o)

"Do you mean they start the show halfway through? In which case, what the frack...?!"

Exactly! It's infuriating! I would LOVE it if they aired my shows at a later date. That would be fabulous! But NOOOOO! They either kick them off for that week, or as I said, show what's left when the stupid-assed game is over.

Fortunately, I haven't been watching much on that channel since Angel ended.
