I see many posts about Patrick Swayze

But more meaningful to me is the news that Keith Floyd also died last night.

Keith, you were undoubtedly a bit of an arse, but you made me laugh like no one else. You're worth many dozens of  Olivers and Ramsays. Wherever you are today, I hope they're playing The Stranglers and that someone else is picking up the tab for the wine.

Here's the obit.

My favourite Keith Floyd quote: 'You don't put fucking brandy in a korma!' Yours...?

Oh - that's really sad.

And oddly, I was talking about him to an old friend of his yesterday in our office.

Bless the man - I hope he's gloriously tiddly, sitting on a cloud somewhere laughing at the fun he's had.

Did you see the Keith Allen film last night? I can't help wondering if that's what killed the poor owd bugger. How cool you met an old friend! Did he say anything repeatable? :o)

He was a wonder, wasn't he? He puts all the rest in the shade. A bright light has gone out, for sure.

Nah - I'm utterly hopeless with catching anything on the box.

It must be one of those synchronicity moments - I've never met him myself, but I've got two acquaintances in common - let's face it, I know a lot of drunks *hg* And no, nothing juicy - just how ill he was looking, which is kinda sad... He was certainly a one off - he'll surely be missed.

Oh Keith, farewell you gorgeous numpty. This is my sad face :-(

Keith knew the best way to cook fish - with a glass of wine. And I don't mean he put the wine in the dish with the fish! I endeavor to emulate him any time I cook :-)

Have you watched the BBC obit? The bit where he winks cheekily whilst drinking from the bottle has made my day today. Ah, the world is a darker, sadder place today for sure. I hope they repeat his shows now, it's about time.

I hope you're well sugar. Any definite news on the job yet? I'm just stopping for tea and toast. Four more chapters, 12,000 words to go. I'm almost at the station. :o)

Oh, no! That is so very sad. David and I loved him and often think of him when we use wine in a recipe.

Assuming you also down the wine from the bottle as you cook, and charge said wine to some other bugger's bill? It's what Keith would have wanted.

Actually, I'm with you in that it distresses me more that Keith Floyd has died. He certainly had charm and personality in spades.

I always harboured a masive love for him.

Like everyone else, he'd dropped off my radar, then, by bizarre coincidence, they showed a new documentary about him, which we watched (oh so painful) the very night he died. I had wondered if watching it is what killed him (*g*) but apparently he never saw it. He'd eaten a £120 lunch that afternoon, sat down with a glass to watch himself and had a heart attack and died. I'm rather glad really, I don't think he'd have liked what he saw, sadly.
