panik: (Beware my stare)

Our dog Hamish was ill yesterday; very, very ill indeed. He started off being just depressed, quiet, off his food, generally unwell all through the day and we had to keep a constant eye on him. He has underlying digestive and thyroid conditions anyway and we wondered if the change in diet was upsetting him but then - I can't bring myself to go into details because living though it once was bad enough but we really thought he was dying and, at one point (when he crept off and we found him lying in the lane in the pitch dark-sheeting rain), dead.

The vet thinks he's eaten something, possibly carion, that's poisoned him - £75 worth of injections later, he definitely seems on the mend (though still quiet and very sorry for himself).

Anyway, that took most of yesterday and into the night, then Dad was up all night with the TV on full blast, some drunk attempted to call us from a mobile at 4am and...

Tired today, very - but relieved.

It's a gorgeous day. I should go for a walk, really. ::continues to stare out of window, mouth open, slight drool::

Mood:: 'exanimate' exanimate
location: Penistone
Music:: Dad's telly

Sending you good vibes, not that they're much use I know, but wotthehellarchy. May he recover swiftly.

He definitely seems much better now, still quiet and lethargic but alert, responsive. I, however, feel like I've been thoroughly kicked in all the most sensitive places. And knackered. Very.

Thanks so much for the vibes, I shall endeavour to use them wisely.

Oh babe - what a crappy time you've had - and poor wee Hamish. I hope he's tons better soon, poor lad, and that you all get a good night's rest tonight.

::sends positive thoughts, gentle hugs and strong booze::

Strong booze would defo hit the spot but alas, I need to do the hoovering*...

::thinks:: Hoovering + booze = ???

But no.

*Why is it still Hoovering when it's a Dyson? But then Dysoning doesn't sound right at all. nonono.

Hoovering + strong booze = far less painful housework *hg*

LOL - my father (editor and writer) would have insisted that as Hoover was a brand name, you couldn't be calling the sucking 'Hoovering', therefore it had to be vacuuming. *headdesk*

A pox on all pedants. *g* So I hoover with my Dyson, where's the harm already? ::cue huge theatrical Frenchman shrug::

A pox on all pedants.

That was always my feeling *g* Oi - put that Frenchman down - it's not safe to do that when you're vacuuming/hoovering/dysoning. *g*

Meant to write, huge theatrical Frenchman slug. I've spent all morning keeping him out of the beer traps the big boozy bastard.

Sounds like my nights at the hospital...except that you were doing it all for free:P Seriously, I'm glad your dog is better. I know what it's like to find a pet dead out in the yard.

Gosh, I'm sorry!

Hamish is picking up nicely now, we're just going to have to watch him extremely carefully from now on.

Poor Hamish! I'm so glad he's better!

And Poor You! Maybe a little nap?

He's getting there, poor mite. :o(

I hope he gets better quickly. Poor lad. Maybe instead of that walk you should go have a nap with him?

Hope you're feeling better soon too. Take care.

I did indeed have a nap, something I never do. I'm still tired now, just all the stress I think. It's the big downside of loving your pets, for sure. :o(

Thanks for the good thoughts, hon, I hope you're doing OK yourself. ♥

Oh poor Hamish! I'm glad to hear he's on the mend. Poor sweetie.

And poor you for having no sleep!
I hope you have a better night tonight.
::hugs::

Things are picking up now, having parted with so many of our English pounds and had a great many years scraped off our lifespans.

Bloody animals. :o)

Poor Hamish. I'm glad he's on the mend. It never ceases to amaze me what dogs will eat, even though they're well fed.

*Sending positive vibes your way*

P.S. Dyson away hon, none of this hoovering or vacuuming nonsense. *G*

That dog dines on the fat of the land, I'm not joking; chicken and rice, free-range pork, stewing beef cooked for three hours in a slow oven with tomato and oregano (seriously, I'm not joking!) and he does something like this. ::shakes head::

How dreadful! I hope you're both feeling better by now.

It was horrendous, he's doing fine now, the rest of us - are missing a few years off our lifespans I think.

Oi, that sounds awful! I'm glad Hamish is feeling better now and I hope you don't soon have another night like that one...

::groans:: Oh God, me too! Not quite the worst night of my life but definitely a contender for the top 10.

Poor, poor Hamish! Poor you too. It's always such a worry when they are very ill like that. I hope he continues to be in the mend.

::hugs::

It's definitely the downside of loving animals (especially when they do something this stupid!). He seems much better now, thanks so much for the good thoughts. ::hugs you back::
