Lovely, lovely Michael Wood (looking hearbreakingly young) in my old home town, looking down the river at my old school! (from 7.22. I appreciate not everyone is going to be squeeing over a shot of Town Bridge but surely everyone can enjoy the scenery. ::she smirked laciviously::)

So much Michael Wood on You Tube! How did I not know this before? If only someone would post some of Lucinda Lambton's old films. There are a few bits and pieces from the Alphabet series but I ache to see On The Throne again, or the North Circular one, or anything, really, but - You Tube, I love you! What a gorgeous life-enhancing glory you are. ::nods happily::

I would happily watch Michael Wood standing on one leg in the dark... well, might make seeing him a tad tricky, but still *g*

And I'd almost forgotten the national treasure of Lucinda Lambton! I used to practice her voice while reading the Hunting of the Snark to a friend's child. Terrified the poor mite, I fear *g*

He can talk his dirty Iron Age talk to me anytime he wants. He even makes Beowulf bearable (though I must admit a sneaking admiration for Blatant Seventies Open University Man (oh my lord! I haven't seen a fisherman's smock in years!), most enjoyable. I'm doing Alfred the Great later, that should be fun.

Lucy Lambton has a blog (http://lucindalambton.com/)but nothing of hers looks due for DVD or anything exciting, really. There's v little on YT and nothing on telly for years. I wonder if the quality has deteriorated too badly for broadcast. Hope not, I'd love to see her older stuff again, I've been scouring the dls but - not a peep.

I used to practice her voice while reading the Hunting of the Snark to a friend's child.
Evil, evil woman. Did you do her laugh, too? I'll bet you did. ::tuts. shakes head::

Thanks for her web linky - that woman has always delighted me!

I see what you mean about nothing much on YouTube, and the little there is seems very creaky. Be a bloody shame if all her film work is lost... maybe that's something I could put to the next MP who wants my vote - that should throw 'em *g*

It's a tragic shame that LL's work seems to be so tragically forgotten. I think I might drop a line to BBC4.

Otoh, I have delved and found [livejournal.com profile] michaelwoodlove  History-ho's, take a  number and join the queue! And now I needs must get me an icon.

ETA. Having joined up, I see it's not exactly bustling over there, nothing posted since 2007. Hey ho the nonny. ::ponders starting own Michael Wood/Lucinda Lambton com. If I build it...

Oh bless - they're a bit thin on the ground over there... maybe he's got a blog ::starts to feel stalkerish::

People who make history sexy are an endangered species - we ought to send food parcels and write to the Times. Or possibly the Guardian.

Nice. You tube is truly a wonderland where we can meet again any time people or event with a special place in our heart. And it enlarges our world. So I visit it a lot.

If you loved Offa, you might love...

Anything with Michael Wood, he could do a documentary on making porridge and it'd be endlessly fascinating. He's so enthusiastic and knowledgable and - frankly, rather easy on the eye. :o)

Here's a short one where he's talking about the Staffordshire hoard:
