Well, no hurricane...

but plenty of wind and rain. It's blown a lot of the turning leaves about and given the world a very autumnal look this morning.

Not Autumnal weather though. Why is it still so warm (she whined, annoyingly)? It feels positively tropical out there, it's so intensely warm and humid. Yuk. It just doesn't go with all the berries and the golden leaves and all.

But it's an amazing year for fungi. I took pictures and made one into an icon. ::simpers::

Love your fungus - very pretty :~)

Yeah - it's incredibly warm at the moment - I was sitting outside (in the wind) in shorts and tee last night - normally I'm cocooned in eight layers of wool and hermetically sealed in by now... never mind, think of the heating bills we're all saving *g*

It's still warm now, and nearly October. I don't like it. I want to wear my woolies, please.

Oh me too - I'm still in a t-shirt... I'm English, I need to moan about the cold... *HG*

I know! yesterday it tried to blow us into Yorkshire. Was still out there only in a short sleeves. They said it was the tale end of some hurricane passing through..

Hi! Just catching up to LJ... I haven't forgotten I owe you a DUG. Well, I HAD forgotten, but I just remembered. Hee. I'll get on to that as soon as I get back home.
Sorry!

that's an amzing looking mushroom. Is it edible?

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2006-09-29 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Hello - I'm catching up, can you tell?
The mushroom - or rather toadstool - in question is a Fly Agaric, fairly common and edible enough if you don't mind vomiting and hallucinations. ::G:: It's a mild poison, but some people use it to get high, I beleive - that's what I've been told, anyway. ::G::

The sort of thing you might use on a pie of doom, in fact... Ah, happy memories... ::G::

It's still hot there? I was wondering about what type clothes I should pack for when we all meet in October.

Nice pic of the mushroom. How big was it?

Difficult to say on the clothes. It is still unseasonably warm, though I'm not sure that anyone but a northern European would think it 'hot'. ::G:: The British climate is somewhat unpredictable. In mid October, it might be warm and wet, warm and dry, cold and dry, or cold and wet. That's about as close as I can predict it, I'm afraid.

Sorry, I missed a bit of your post... They're usually about 6 inches tall, and the same across, but they can get much bigger. I can't remember the specific individual in the picture, I'm afraid.
