I've been working on my book since 6.30am; beavering away at chapter one - which I never write first; if I do, it's never right for some reason and I always have to go back and basically re-write it all, so experience has taught me to start somewhere in the middle, and when that's going well, when the 'voice' is flowing, that's when I go back an do the opener.

Only this time, I kept thinking of things that just had to go in - Chapter one's the big intro to how things were in Cuba back inthe mid nineties - it's full of anecdotes, and every time I remembered one, I had to get it down before I forgot.

So Chapter One's been going quietly on in the background while I got on with the rest and, having hit a bit of a wall with the chapter I was writing, I decided to go and sort out #1, which I did - finished it, indeed; tied all those little anecdotes and haikus and games of 'Che is Sexy' (a gentle amusement we invented to while away the blackouts) and made a whole gosh-darned, finished chapter out of them. 6,750 words in all. I now have chapters 1 and 2 complete which means, I've got me a submission for m'agent! Yay. Go me.

My plan to finish this mother by the end of the month at a steady rate of 2,000 words a day is well on track. Of my 12 planned chapters, I've finished chapters 1,2, 4, 5, 6 and 7, with various snippets and stories already written to slip into the unwritten chapters.

My word-count to date = 40, 245
My progress = Good.
My current mood = Smug. ::chortle::

Right, time for a refreshing walk, I think, before I set on with the next task; making my other book publication-worthy and, maybe, writing a bit o' fic this afternoon. That would be nice - it feels like months since I finished the Roman story. ::smiles happily::

In other news, we had new windows and a door put in yesterday. It's UPVC double glazing, which I used to regard as the work of the devil - I still don’t much like it aesthetically (though this is about as nice as it comes; mock sash style windows in mock-wood ::roll:: Heh heh), but have come to respect it's practicality, and I must admit, it's a joy to lose the howling draft that used to pour through the old door, and the racket from the sawmill is massively reduced.

Congrats on the success with your book!

And I haven't forgotten about the Roman story, I promise!...I'm nearly finished...

LOL! I didn't think you had (forgotten)! I wasn't *hinting* or anything!

Actually, I'm just thinking of following Fluterbev's lead and posting my 2 smarmiest gen stories (rainbows and WindW) at 852 as pre-slash (especially since I have a powerful feeling the sequel to Rainbows is going to go the slash road). What do you think?

Oh, yes, I think you definitely should! Besides the fact that 852's a great archive and it's good to have your stuff there, I find it incredibly amusing that, since the fandom dying/no new authors are posting to 852/and they all suck anyway discussion started on P-L, there's been a veritable FLOOD of postings to 852...

Thank you kindly, hon.

I'm being CONSTANTLY (screeeeam!) interrupted today which is slowing things up badly. I wonder if this here Cream Egg will sweeten the Muse? Let's give it a try, for experiment's sake, you understand....

I do so love a ::chortling:: Gilly! And so exciting, that you've made so much progress, especially the first chapters. Majorly impressed, and rooting for you & for *all* Gilly writing, from Cuba to Cascade and all points circumnavigating the globe...

Heh heh heh! Well, I can usually come up with a ::chortle:: when required, especialy if there's chocolate to be had - and lookee here - what do you know, there is!

"from Cuba to Cascade and all points circumnavigating the globe..."
::snicker:: Aw... But Cascade's SO much more fun, isn't it? If only we could write fic for a living.
