The work of my good mate Maria (we travelled around Cuba together, I wrote a book about it, I think I might have mentioned this before (o:) who does amazing work amongst the street children of Peru.

They've just been given some land on which they're going to build a "comedor infantil" (a posh soup kitchen), a teenage mum's refuge and outdoor play area and garden and community dining hall.  I'm so thrilled - things seem to be really moving for them now.

Sounds like such a worthwhile project. I so much admire people who are making a hands-on, practical difference in tough situations (of which there are way too many in the world).

...say what? You wrote a book? About traveling in Cuba? ::is astonished:: But seriously, hope the revising and the preparing stuff for the agent (some of which preparing still seems ludicrous to me, like you're having to do the agent's job for her/him) is going excellently.

::smooches t v::

Maria's great. She always had amazing 'go out and do it' energy. I'm thrilled by what she's doing these days - I'm off to London to watch the woman fundraise this coming week, and hoping to finally get out there this year and see her in her (now) native environment.

The book is going well, thanks for asking (o:
I've given up on the needy agent for now; concentrating on Tina Betts at Andrew Mann who tried so hard to get my novel published last time; all they want is a synopsis and my first 50 pages.

Hence the delay in finally finishing that darn fic. Next week. I PROMISE. (o:

Oh, the synopsis and the first 50 pages thing sounds so much more reasonable. (As if I have a clue, really. But it sounds more like it ::cough:: ought to be.) And you know that the agent you worked with before is willing to try hard, which would be a big plus, I would think.

It's great you'll get a chance to see your friend in London! (And going to Peru sounds wonderful. Wow.)

Next week. I PROMISE. Heh, anticipation builds character or something. I just get impressed that you can put the fic down and pick it back up and not have to start all over again.
