Biblical deluge

Is everyone in the UK OK? Did anyone get washed into the sea?

Man!

I can't remember ever seeing rain like that in these latitudes before. Sheets and sheets of it, hour after hour. We're OK up here, on a moor, 1000 feet above SL but I believe most of South Yorkshire is in a bad way. They're sandbagging houses over where my relatives live in Chapeltown and Ecclesfield and much of Sheffield is under water.

How about the rest of you?

It's cold and wet here on the Lancashire coast, but no worse than our usual cold and wet! It's a massive contrast, though, with the blazing hot temperatures of last weekend. My house was like an oven on Sunday, but now I am tempted to put on the heating!

My kids are heading off to Sheffield later with their dad - I will assume all is well with them, since they live at the top of a steep hill...

Well most of Sheffield is either up or down a steep hill (o: We're up high too, so it's not a problem, but the roads are almost impassable; just raging rivers - water is pouring off the moors and the River Don is just scary! It's safely confined in a gorge here, but I can see how it must be causing trouble further downstream. You can hear the water roaring miles from the river itself O:!

Is it cold over there? It's very sticky and tropical here. I keep wanting to check my secret places for leeches. (o:

Whereabouts in Sheffield are your boys?
