Is everyone in the UK OK? Did anyone get washed into the sea?

Man!

I can't remember ever seeing rain like that in these latitudes before. Sheets and sheets of it, hour after hour. We're OK up here, on a moor, 1000 feet above SL but I believe most of South Yorkshire is in a bad way. They're sandbagging houses over where my relatives live in Chapeltown and Ecclesfield and much of Sheffield is under water.

How about the rest of you?

Wales is pretty much dry we've only had drizzle and I'm amased at how much rain you guys are getting!

Well rub it in, why doncha! ::G::

It's moved from bucketing down to damp and hotly tropical, now, dammit!

It's blazing sunshine down here and really warm, we haven't had any rain at all!? I'm really hoping it stays that way for the two hour motorway drive I have to do this afternoon *shudders*

It's bizarre. It seems to have mostly hot a swathe from Birmingham to Leeds. It's hot here, but very, very wet. Not a pleasant combo.

I *really* hope it stays dry for your journey, hon. We had to cross the Pennines in this yesterday and it was absolute hell. )o:

It's cold and wet here on the Lancashire coast, but no worse than our usual cold and wet! It's a massive contrast, though, with the blazing hot temperatures of last weekend. My house was like an oven on Sunday, but now I am tempted to put on the heating!

My kids are heading off to Sheffield later with their dad - I will assume all is well with them, since they live at the top of a steep hill...

Well most of Sheffield is either up or down a steep hill (o: We're up high too, so it's not a problem, but the roads are almost impassable; just raging rivers - water is pouring off the moors and the River Don is just scary! It's safely confined in a gorge here, but I can see how it must be causing trouble further downstream. You can hear the water roaring miles from the river itself O:!

Is it cold over there? It's very sticky and tropical here. I keep wanting to check my secret places for leeches. (o:

Whereabouts in Sheffield are your boys?

I was wondering about problems here in Germany, too. We had this kind of rain last night. Went to bed I couldn't believe it how long it had already rained like that, and three hours later, when I went for a potty break, it was still raining that way! But there was nothing on the news over here, so I assume it either wasn't as bad as it looked or the drains were somehow up to the task. It still was quite wet on the streets this morning, but I saw nothing that suggested actual flooding.

Glad you're okay, too!

It seems to have hit a swathe of the country; West Midlands to South Yorkshire. The problem has been mostly with rivers bursting their banks, but some roads around here have turned into raging rivers. It's such a tremendous volume of rain after a long dry spell and it's not soaking into the ground, just rolling over it.

I've never seen anything like it in this part of the country before. Very strange.

Glad you're OK!

We had a lot of rain last night, but it was still very warm, today up till now we have only had a little drizzle, but it looks like it is trying to rain now, but again not a lot.

Yesterday on the London Underground it was excessively hot, and its not even summer yet.

More forecast for tomorrow, turning hot and dry by Sunday. It's the heat plus the deluge that's making me feel I'm back in the rainforest. The woods are full of bilberries - at least a month early. It's just weird!

The rain's over here for now, though I think there's more to come tonight. Right now there's a damp haze hanging over everything but some roads are impassable raging rivers and some roads are blocked by flooding. The rain last night was *unbelievable*.

My parents are in Staffordshire and they said heavy rain but no damage.

There's no damage here, as we're high up, but some of the roads are just raging rivers, the river has burst its banks and downriver towrds Sheffield, houses are flooding and cars being washed away.

And it's so hot and sticky. It's really tropical. O:!

The main areas affected seem to be South Yorkshire and the West Midlands, but it's moving your way. ::G::

Sticky here, too. Damp and misty and so warm; everything's lush and green and burgeoning; like a rainforest (o:

That's awful! I hope there were no fatalities!

I woke up to no water at all coming out of the taps!!! The town has been cleaning out pipes and drains and I guess they broke something at the filtration plant. The town told me it might not be fixed until tonight!

The worst for me is no toilet flushing. Ick. And our dauther and son in law are coming today for the weekend. Always such excellent timing. Sheesh.

I lined up at the drug store at 9 a.m. and got two 18.5 litre containers of drinking water. When I got back, there was enough water coming out of the taps to fills some buckets and basins for flushing and washing.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that it'll stay on and I'll keep my fingers crossed for South Yorkshire, that no one is hurt!

I don't think anyone's been hurt but cars have been washed away and 40 people are cut off, stuck on the roof of a factory in Sutton Coldfield.

Sorry you have no water, that's always a horror. Having lived on water rationing; 3 buckets per household per day - I know what that's like. Not nice (o:

I hope those people get rescued soon!!!

The water is still back on, if not up to the usual pressure. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, though!

I can live without a lot of modern conveniences, but water is the one I find the hardest to do without!

It's not too bad here. The rain's finally stopped, though it looks like it might rain again at some point. :o( The gardens are looking rather water-logged too, but I think Yorkshire's been hit far, far worse than Lancashire.

Yeah, looking at the news, it looks like S Yorks and Birmingham have caught the worst of it. I've only ever seen rain like we had last night in a hurricane. We're OK, being up on top of a hill, but the roads have turned into raging rivers and the river itself is just scary! O:

I'm just going to post about it so I won't go into detail, but you can make it going up into North Yorkshire! We've been glued to radios to find out if we would be able to get home...

OMG! It's coming down hard again here; we're basically sitting in a cloud, surounded by thick fog, rain torrenting down and really weird, loud thunder that just rolls on and on and on...

O:!

Take care, hold on tight to something solid...

Not to be mean or anything, but could you send it the other way, over there. We really don't need any more!
