I just got (several!) emails from Caro about my LMFA noms... I'm only allowed ten in total - what am I going to go for? Honestly, I'm genuinely looking for advice - I don't know where to start! Holy shit; this is... thoroughly lovely, but... gosh! ::blush::

Gen:
Chasing Rainbows is up for Angst, AU, Sentinel & Guide, Original Character, Hurt/Comfort and Novel - I have to cut these down to 3 - any advice?

The Sentinel Affair
is up for Humour (The Sentinel Affair!!! OMG, it's been up for over 2 years and only ever had one bit of feedback! What is going on?! ::dances happy dance::)

Wind Whispering is nommed for AU, Canon and novel in the Gen
But also for Canon character and pre-slash in the slash categories Urm...? I guess this is what happens when you cheekily post what's basically a gen story to 852 and call it 'pre-slash' heh heh! - Well it always was pre-slash in my head.::whistle::

Slash:
A Child of God (Oh bless its cotton socks! Because I haven't had much fb at all on this and was beginning to think it must suck big hairy ones) is up for Episode Related, Canon, Established Relationship and Novel - so again, I have to pick 3. (help? plz?)

Alpha and Omega gets an embarrassement of noms too, but because it's co-authored I get to keep it in addition to my ten total noms - it's still got to be cut to 3 categories, though.
It's up for
Angst, AU, First Time, Novel and Collaboration.

I'm also up for
New Gen Author (wasn't I up for that last year? ::Giggle:: Not that I'm complaining or anything!)
Oustanding Gen Author
New Slash Author

And I'm all like - whoa! Man! LOL! ::giggle::
But I have to get all this down to 10 noms in total - any advice from those more experienced than me would be massively appreciated cause I don't even know where to start!

I'm all discombobulated!  I'm... stunned! Utterly, totally and completely! Really! (Goes off to lie down in a dark room with a cool, lavender flannel over my fevered brow).

To everyone who nommed me, thank you, all SO much!

YAYYYYYYYYYYY! HUGE congratulations! You've done so well, which relly doesn't surprise me at all ::twirls you round and round until you're sick::

I have no advice, but I will get back to you - I need time to think on your thorny issue! LOL

Squee!!! ::giggle:: ::vomits:: (lol). Oh thanks, hon.

I'm just totally thrown! Really, I've had odd noms before but only once been on the final ballot (and that for new gen writer - never had a story make it to the finals before), I'm just flabbergasted! I don't know who's been doing all this noming but I'm very happy they did.

I really should stop musing on this and get on with some work though... Or maybe I'll just grab a cup of coffee and giggle some more. (o:

My approach would be as follows:

You're allowed 11, including your collaboration, correct?

Look at where you are if you accept at least one nomination for each story.

That leaves you with the following:

3 author noms
1 collaboration
4 story noms - Rainbows, Sentinel Affair, WW, Child of God

TOTAL: 8

You're allowed three more. So in the case of three out of the five stories you are up for, you can accept two nominations, rather than one.

It's brutal, but it works! Does that help?

Congratulations, I really don't know why this didn't happen last year. Bev's advice lools good, except I have a question. If your story is nominated this year but does not win, can it be put up next year, under the same category or under a different one? What I'm thinking is that if it can't, maybe it would be better to drop a story to put the others in more categories. But if I am confusing things more just ignore me.

As to which one to only have one nomination in, go for the one you were least comfortable with, which I think was 'The Sentinel Affair', but maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway, congratulations again, you deserve it, maybe this will trigger a turning point in your own books as well

To answer your q.'s - as far as I'm aware, only category winners can't be nominated again. Sentinel Affair only got one nom. so - I guess that's in by default. (o:

I shall think hard about it tonight and make some decisions. I'm a bit busy with work at the moment and I wasted the morning on squee (heh heh).

Thanks for your congrats, hon; much appreciated. As for whether it'll rub off on my attempts to get the other stuff published ::shrug:: - who can say? Though I'm coming up to a Jupiter return in November so maybe the good luck is starting early? (o: Anyway, back to the grind...

heh heh. I've actually just woken from a 20 minute nap - I was just exhausted, maybe from the squee (unlikely ::G::), but the champagne bath has worked wonders at shocking me awake (shocked at the wicked waste of good wine!)

I was just sipping a coffee and trying to work out which noms to accept - it's killing me ::G:: - not surprisingly, I'm well represented in the 'novel' categories. Not even the 'long story' cat. can contain my massive fic (must learn to be concise... must learn to be concise...)

ooh, cool! That's so great that Child of God got nominated! And how funny that Wind Whispering got nominated in both slash AND gen...::snicker::

Although I apparently got nominated for New Gen Author...which really confuses me because I've written maybe two or three stories that weren't explicitly slash (but they were always going there in my head sooner or later).

Anyway, congratulations, and good luck on paring the list down! *g*

Congrats to you too, hon! I was very pleased about ACOG, I must say, and the Sentinel Affair - I'd almost forgotten I ever wrote that one. Bizarre!

LOL, well, this is the second year running I've been nommed as 'new' gen writer. ::giggle::

Great news which I am sure will spur on the muse to further heights! Don't ponder too long - my notice said you only get two days to make up your mind so they can compile the final list :-)

I really enjoyed Wind Whispering and love the nom list just to get to more great fics I have either overlooked or not had time to seek out/read in my limited time frames.

Will have to add The Sentinel Affair to the list!

Enjoy

OOh eck; TSA was a silly bit of nonsense - my first TS story. It's over 2 years old now and only ever had one piece of fb but I still hold it in deepest affection, if only for the image of Jim in long hair and tight purple pants. (o;

I've already sent in my list; it was tough though. Congratulations on your own noms; like you, I'm looking to seeing all the great stories I've missed listed so I can catch up.

*g*... guess yesterday I wasn't really paying attention to the postings of my lf friends - I'm sorry ;) Too many things slipped through...

so a big - even if related, it is meant from the bottom of my heart - Congrats !!!!

So many wonderful talented people around here in this wonderful fandom... Each and every day I discover that there is so much out there I have to get my hands (or my 'puter the files *g*) on. So many things to discover (some discover again) and to read. But hey, that'll mean there is enough stuff to make the joy last for a very loooong time *g*

And I keep my fingers crossed for you :)))

As I'm very partial to Chasing Rainbows, I'm doubly happy to see it in there!
