Well we're supposed to be driving back to Yorkshire right now but looking outside at the roaring gales and driving snow and thinking - M62 (thunder clap, organ chord, wolf howl) - and we're shaking our heads and staying home by the fire. The weather looks to be settling down tomorrow - well, here in the north anyway (sorry Snail, sorry Rhianne; it looks pretty nasty for you tomorrow) so we're staying another day. Good job we didn't let the stove go out last night.

I just went to investigate a draft - the house is double glazed and the stone walls are 2 feet thick, there shouldn't be a draft - and found a two inch hole in the floor by the door!!! Holy shit!

I see a shitload of amusing wank has blown up on TSStoryfinders ::snerk:: And such old wank, too. Some people just don't know when to let go, do they? ::sigh::

And on Radio 2, Jonathan Ross is pimping The Osmonds to John Barrowman; they're singing along together to 'Let Me In'. It's more than a little bizarre.

Eep - the weather! We had sleet a little while ago, and the wind is scarily gusty.Yuck!

OMG the wank that never, ever dies. It is all over Senad too. Also, [livejournal.com profile] caarianna has been moved at last to make a 'putting the record straight' post in her LJ which I was compelled to comment on at length. I forsee rough seas in the days ahead, me hearties... ::resigns self to argy bargy::.

I'll go have a read; |I could do with a break. Since the weather's gifted me with an extra day I'm using it to try and finish Angel Dust; certyainly the weather out there's putting me in the mood for a snowy tale of angst and woe. *G*

I unsubbed from Senad a while back; TSS is about the last list I'm still on and I'm wondering if I'm going to have to up-sticks and shift my tent again. ::sigh:: I just can't take anymore of the wank, the dogmatism, the dog-with-a-bone attitudes. ::is rapidly falling out of love with fandom. Is sad::

M62?! eep! No, you do right. Stay at home where it is warm and cosy.
It's not so nice here either.

They just can't help themselves, can they?

"Stay at home where it is warm and cosy. "
I fully intend to. (o: How's the weather oop there, then, chuck?

"They just can't help themselves, can they?"
::rolls eyes, sighs dramatically, prepares to unsub from yet another list::

We've had rain and sleet and it looked so dark at 2.15 that cars had their headlights on! Not nice.

Hope you are having a good evening
::hugs::

It's gray and drizzly here in the Northern part of the Southern states in the USA. Sleeted a couple of days ago but no snow yet. Days like this make me glad for our wood stove, which is a comfy distance behind me as I type.

I"m so glad to hear you talking about visiting stores and enjoying yourself again.

Angel Dust... Sigh. I've been kind of hardwired to think of PCP, the animal tranquilizer with hallucigentic properties, as Angel Dust. Hope my brain can get over it though, so I don't mentally stumble over the name when I get to read your story.

What made the hole in your floor? Was in geological in nature or biological(animal?)?

Cold and wet is generally our world here in the English NW but it's especially true today. I've got a blazing fire, wine, olives, some wonderful cheese and Time Team on the TV. I'm good; glad you are too. (o:

LOL on Angel Dust! It's the name of part 2 of the Rainbows story - it's about frozen breath not PCP (though thinking about it, that could be a good crack explanation for the whole 'Rainbows' universe. heh heh). It all takes place in a frozen, ice world this time - the name's supposed to be descriptive and metaphorical (chaos, dispersal).

How's your writing going? I'm really looking forward to the next bit of A Fair Distance; I love that story.

The hole in the floor seems to have been caused, ironically, by the guys who put the double glazed door in; it's certainly damage, nothing natural. It's appeared where the stone floor meets the step over the door and there's a hellish draft coming in under the door. It's easily fixable with a little filler, thank goodness, but I've had to stick rolled up towels there for the time being.

I hope your weather picks up soon; ours is supposed to ease off tonight here in the north but there's *really* bad weather predicted for the south tomorrow. Stay warm...

My dear beta,[livejournal.com profile] t_verano who's advice I value immensly, has chapter twelve and is working on it. While I've posted some Sentinel Thursday drabbles without being beta'ed, for a story like this I like to have her input and do a re-write before I post them. But it's going pretty well. I finished A Fair Distance, which ended up fourteen chapters and ~ 4200 to 4400 words.(I'm calculating, I didn't actually add the words up) I'm onto the sequel, which is called Ball and Chain( thanks to Janis Joplin), and I'm on chapter two. There's a related story, which can be standalone, but as it's totally out of anybody in the current story's POV, I'm just adding it as a kind of bonus. I know where I'm going and basically what's supposed to happen, so unless I drop dead this story arc will be finished in three stories.

I'm fascinated by writing and really surprised at myself for not trying it before April of this year. And I love being on lj and learning from other writers, such as yourself. It's raining harder now and I should go do some chores. But even when I am doing chores, or driving, now I'm thinking a lot about what to write when I get back to the computer.

'and learning from other writers, such as yourself...'
::is giggling like a loon:: I fear for your future development as a writer. *G*

If you really only started writing this year then you should be proud; your stories are lovely.

Does John Barrowman sing? I think I read somewhere that he does. Does he sing well?

I mean, as hot as he is, having him sing well would just be the icing on a very nice cake.

'Does John Barrowman sing?'
Yes indeedy - before DW he was best known for musical comedy. He has an album out at the moment. Does he sing well? Probably - I'm not a fan of musicals but I'd imagine so; he's done Broadway and sang 'Springtime for Hitler' in The Producers movie (the musical version)

I think you're right to stay where you are, Gilly. Who wants to be out in that weather? Stay inside where it's warm and there's fanfic to be had.

According to the weather, the south east is going to get 90mph winds tomorrow. :o(

I quit TSSF a while back (when the flame about people disliking RPS was allowed to remain up) so I've missed seeing the fights on there. I saw Senad's version of it though.

We did stay where we were, by the fire and very nice it was too. I'm back in Yorkshire now, though (amazing fog over Winter hill; the clouds were exactly the same colour as the sky so it looked like the top half of the mast was floating, disembodied, over the hill (o:) - the headache has started already... )o:

Yikes on the hole in the floor! I hope that won't be too much of a pain to repair...

And I'm crossing my fingers that the weather improves for you all over there...sounds awful.

Ah no; a little filler is all. It looks like the guys who fitted the double glazing may have cracked the stone and over time, a piece has worked free and fallen out - terrible draft coming through through there so we aim to fix it next time we're home.

The weather's not too bad here in the north today, just a little cold, damp and foggy - but I think the south is catching it badly today and we're due for more snow tomorrow when the wind turns northerly. )o:

How are things in NC? I'll never forget that snow; about a half an inch fell, it was all gone by lunchtime and the local news show was still talking about it a week later. I kinda got the impression it doesn't snow too often in Chapel Hill. *G*

It's been COLD here, a little early for it, but it's supposed to warm up to the 60's or 70's next week (Farenheit, not Celsius *G*). But fortunately we haven't had any weather to speak of. A little freezing rain Thursday, but since it was unexpected the news didn't cover it and the grocery stores all still had milk and bread. I'm worried it's going to be a hard winter, though. We need the precip like crazy, but it just gets so nuts here when the weather is bad...as you remember very well...*g*
