Housely Renovations; Current status...

Drinking coffee, nibbling on a hob nob, staring at the wall.

Oh man, I SO don't wanna do this thing and neither does Mark and we're sitting here, encouraging each other in idleness. Hey ho, I reckon, if we start at 12 - or 1, maybe *g* - work till five, that should see the thing done. Once the damp-seal's on, we can't do anything for 12 hours anyway (it says on the tin).

That should be enough, shouldn't it? (nod head, say yes. Thank you.)

So I'm browsing LJ, listening to The Archers, occassionally glancing at this LMFA email from Caro...

Yea Gods, people! The website is up for 4 categories. Alpha and Omega up for 3. I have a further 18 noms (including 'outstanding author' in both gen and slash which is just silly! How can I possibly put my name up for those? lol!), which I have to cut to 10. Angel Dust got eight noms...

::is stunned::

Really, I've produced so little this year, did nothing for Moonridge, I've been pretty non-participatory in fandom in general for the last 12 months. Angel Dust in particular got very little feedback - I honestly wasn't expecting this at all this year.

To everyone who nommed me - I'm stunned, humbled, confused, giggling a bit at the absurdity but very happy nontheless. You all rock like big rocky things on a dangerously unstable surface.

Thank you.

Now back to contemplating the work that has to be done without actually doing anything. ::lifts coffee, dunks bikkie, stares at wall::

The past two years I've had to cut down my noms from a ridiculous amount too. This year, I didn't have to do it, though I voluntarily cut a couple I thought were inappropriate (Staying Present for Day in the Life? Well, Covert!Ops Jim's kinda day, but hardly what is usually meant by that category! LOL). It's a relief to not be quite so overwhelmed for once, which of course doesn't help you at all! :-)

And of course, you *are* an outstanding author, so that is totally appropriate for you. As for the other noms - yay! Thoroughly deserved. You're a fab writer, as I've said to you many times. I'm so happy to see you appreciated!

And now, back to defrosting the freezer. Which I have to get done quick, as the shopping has just been delivered, and I need to put it in there! I totally feel your pain on the getting off your bum and getting on with it front...

It's mad, isn't it?

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, so much, for your kind and lovely words, babe. (o:I really, honestly wasn't expecting to get many noms at all, having kept a pretty low profile in the fandom all year and after the shameful and thoroughly disgraceful Massive Moonridge Disaster (in which I still haven't finished one of the wips I offered for 2007 and haven't even started the other)... well shucks, honey, this has come as something of a stunner.

You - YOU yeah, I totally get that because you're prolific and consistently excellent, but me? I'm a bit of a dead loss, really. (no, I am! I honestly have been this year for sure. And still guilty at not having done anything for Moonridge)

But now I've got to go through and sort it all out (again! lol) and decide what to go for (cause I messed up a bit last year). I'm really not sure about those author noms. I truly don't feel 'outstanding' in any way, shape or form. I admit to wanting to go on the slash ballot just because *g* but I don't think I'm a very good slash writer, certainly not in your league, or Jane Davitt's or Jen's or... oh, almost everyone. *g* And do wonder (if I accept an author nom at all) if it wouldn't be safer and more honest to go with the gen author.

hey ho.

But well done you!!! You deserve to win in every category, you really do. And I hear that on the freezer, dear god I do. ::sigh:: I really have to move myself now, I think. So much to do. ::sighs again::

Pray for us. (o:

How I love procrastination! We should start a club... tomorrow.
Congratulations on the nominations too, that's quite an honour.

that's quite an honour.

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
It's quite insane and I'm deeply embarrassed about it, truth be told, especially the 'outstanding slash author' nom - hat's just silly. (o:

But deeply gratified nonetheless. *g*

Ah, Procrastination! Thou art my middle name (not true of course; that too, would be silly).

Congratulations
Ah, thank you so much. I do feel weird about it, but you're right, it is an honour.

Can I join the Procrastination Club please? Sometime. When I get round to it?

I have a pile of paperwork I need to sort through and file away properly - I need to find my P60 and my divorce for the course grant application (I know where my passport is) and I keep thinking I should start it...soon...really...I should...there's a lot...the sooner I start...in a minute...

As for you - congratulations on the nominations - you do deserve them, you are a fab writer. And you are carrying on in the good British workman tradition of hot drink and biccies, therefore you are working!

[identity profile] laurie-ky.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah! Congratulations!

That's great news, and very well deserved.

Now-- back to the salt mines, wench. ::looks over own house projects and sighs::

Laurie

Thanks for the congrats, hon!

Time on the coal-face all done and now we're camped out in the bedroom eating melon and watching Top Gear. Yay ::waves feebly:: Early night for me I think.

"You all rock like big rocky things on a dangerously unstable surface."
You deserve it hon. Many congratulations! You rock too, just as unstable as the rest of us.....*G*

::Waves::

You deserve it hon

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I really don't but it's nice to feel so loved. *g* Unstable, certainly. I can go with that. (o:

[identity profile] snycock.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Totally deserved, all of it. No, no, no, don't argue with me, I'm sticking my fingers in my ears... la la la, I can't hear you...*G*

And don't even start with this "not in my league stuff"... hey, I didn't even get on the author ballot, so there... :o) I think you're quite outstanding.

Totally deserved, all of it.

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh. No,no,no,no. Honest to God, I'm actually rather disconcerted. It's lovely, but weird to be sure.

I didn't even get on the author ballot
WHAT? Oh babe, that's just so wrong I can't believe that. Gosh - my jaw is on the floor.

I think you're quite outstanding.
Ah, go on with you! ::hides happy grin::> You're lovely to say that but I reckon you very highly as a writer, especially as a slash writer. I'm not good at slash (do not argue! Fingers in ears, lalalala, the whole routine) I'm really not. I struggle mightily with all - that. *g* You, Jane and Bev - plus the greats, Lemon Drop, JRD, Spikedluv... oh so many really outstanding slash writers - it's embarrassing really, to be included on the ballot in that category because I just can't even think about holding a candle. Really. It's the truth.

You should be on that ballot. ::is still befuddled and rather put out by that news:: Sheesh!
