It's been a fraught few days. It's almost Christmas, you know how that is. I scrubbed and cleaned and baked and got the Crimbo tree and a few decs up at Dad's place yesterday and now we're home in Withnell and I can start all over again here! Yay. My life is made of joy.

Anyway, as I say, life's been a tad mad. I went away for a few days last week and I haven't really caught up. I'm trying to get up to date with work and I'm working on the next chapter of Blue but I doubt if I'll get it up tomorrow as is my usual wont. Sometime this week. Maybe.

Having been empty for a fortnight, the house is on the chilly side; th'kitchen stove be lit and blazing, the sitting room wood-stove likewise, it should be snug and cosy by Tuesday (heh). I'm comforting myself with rum in hot chocolate, cheesy nibbles and memes. I know. I should be writing. Hey ho and get thee to a nonnery Writery-Guilt! I bite my thumb at thee.

Your result for What Planet are You From? Test...

You are from Uranus!

20% Uranus

Well, how about that? You are from Uranus!

Uranus is a bit unusual in that it kind of tilts to its side. They think that might be because it was involved in some kind of collision with another planet or huge asteroid at some time. Uranus also has nine rings. It was discovered in 1871 and is the third largest planet in our solar system.

Uranus was named after the Greek father of the sky. It is said that he come to the planet to mate with Gaia, but he hated the children that she bore. Hmmm. Does that mean that you don’t like very many humans?

What does this say about you?

Well, it means that you have a very strong personality. You like being different. You are just one of those people that are hard to describe. You like to make people think because you realize that life is always changing.

You have lots of ideas and could possibly be an inventor. You enjoy learning about new things and trying things out. You are definitely a doer and a creator. Give you a rubber band, a paper clip, and a ball point pin and I’m sure you could manage to do something very interesting and unusual with it.

Intelligence becomes you!

The biggest part of our Christmas doings are over now. We had a good day on Benjamin's first Christmas celebration.

I hope you're nice and warm now. =>}

We tend to keep Christmas doings for Christmas, :o) Not that there are that many these days. It'll be quiet. My cousin usually hosts a party on Boxing Day, maybe we'll get dad out to that this year? Maybe take in a panto. Mostly it'll be eating and TV I think, dad can't cope with a lot.

Glad you had such a good time, I hope Christmas proper will be every bit as good.

It's definitely far from the norm here to have our Christmas Day so early. It started with us when our kids were born. We always went to Mum's and Dads for the holiday, but I also wanted to have our own little Christmas Day here. Besides which, we never would've had room for all our presents for Mum, Dad, my sister and brother and their families in our Toyota. So we would have it the closest weekend before Christmas.

Our kids always believed that Santa made a special early trip here and then went to Grandma and Grandpa's. *g*

The choir I sang with always had a lovely evening performance by the lake on our little mountain, so we'd all go to that on our "Christmas Eve". It was very special.

It worked out extra well once our kids got married, because it meant they ALWAYS spent "Christmas" with us, no matter what they were doing with in-laws and such.

It got switched to this early, because our s-i-l's birthday is Dec. 10th. Since he's a chef in a restaurant and their busiest times are weekends, he couldn't get a weekend off now to celebrate his birthday AND the weekend before Christmas, so a couple of years ago, we decided to do both on the same weekend.

So since Mum died, it's just been J. and I alone on Christmas Day. Last year, being the first without her, was rather bittersweet, but at least we had our "normal" Christmas Day with our daughter and s-i-l. Unfortunately, it's been three years since our son and d-i-l were able to join us.

Anyway, I'm sure this is more than you ever wanted to know about our family celebration this time of year, but there you have it. *g*

I hope you and your husband have a lovely time during the whole season. =>}
