We were supposed to be driving back to Dad's today as per but I called my sister this morning and there's three feet of snow in Thurlstone and Ingbirchworth Road, a steep hill and the only proper road in and out of the village, is a sheet of solid ice with a foot of fresh snow on top. No gritters have been and ploughs - don't make me laugh. No one has been able to get in in or out since the snow fell, apparently. People are  snowboarding down Ingbirchworth Road. *g*.

Old Anna Lane, the only other potential route is entirely blocked by drifts - that's if we could make it as far as Thurlstone, Huddersfield is much worse hit apparently with most rural routes in and around the city still blocked. Saddleworth Moor is shrouded in thick fog, more snow is expected tomorrow so...

We're staying home for now. We just went out to provision up for the next few days in case the snow hits us next time but - we're only 35 miles as the crow flies  from Dad's but it's like another world. We still have snow on the ground here and mist on the hills which makes everything look very wintry, but there's only 2 or 3 inches on the ground and, barring a little ice here and there, the roads are pretty much clear.

Best get on with some work then, I suppose.

Yikes. Sounds kind of scary from the getting-around point of view, though poetic in a Bram Stoker kind of way.

HEE.

It sounds perfect. I love snow but there's little to speak of here on the west of the Pennines. :o(

I know you've said there's no such thing as "too cold" but still... I was just whining to [livejournal.com profile] gothphyle that I was going to have to cover my plants and flowers because it's going to get down to freezing here tonight. Geesh! I guess it's what you're used to.

Keep safe! (Would love to see pictures.)

Ah, there's nothing to photograph, snow's very patchy here and not terribly picturesque. All the good stuff is out east.

Keep safe!
Thank you - you too, keep those plants safe too! :o)

Ah! Snow! Stay warm *gives you a mug of cocoa* and try not to go stir-crazy from staying at home! *tosses you happy pills*
