It is SO hot here tonight; a heavy, damp, cut-it-with-a-knife heat and a heavy haze over everything. I really hope we get a proper storm to clear the air and damp the peat a little. Everyone lives in dread of the moorland fires we had last spring. And our waterfall is dead! )o:

OTOH - what a year for fruit! The bushes are just bowing under the weight of it - rapberries and bilberries (blueberries) on the hills; plums and cherries in the valley. I've hardly bought any fruit since I got back from London - why pay £££ to Tesco when you can go and get it all for free?

And, on the off-chance anyone was wondering, the subject line is from chapter 5 of  the book I had for O level French in which Monsieur Renauld and his son Jaques spend a day on the beach. Like they needed the rest. As I recall, la familie Renauld never ever lifted a finger in any way. They were the idlest bunch of connardes that ever walked the streets of Paris.

Any storms yet? So so hot!

And isn't the fruit this year is amazing! The only thing I have to get from the supermarket is bags of sultanas to keep the blackbirds happy - lazy little monsters *g*
