Oh dear

The new Who logo is a bit pants. I wish I hadn't looked, I feel mildly depressed now, but I suppose I'll always have my Troughton DVDs for comfort.

:o)

In the meantime, porridge + golden syrup is a fine and goodly thing on an Autumn morning. I am about to book a Matlock cabin weekend for myself and the friends who did not shun me. It rains, but it's warm inside. I find ideas are flooding in for a new novel. Life ticks on with its many pains and pleasures. There is absolutely no reason for this post and I feel I must apologise.

I quite liked it, to be honest - nowhere near as much personality as Old School logos, but infinitely nicer - and much, much Whoier - than the last one :)

I find it indescribably ugly and without merit of any kind but, each to their own of course.

in retrospect

That sounds a bit waspish. I think I should have put a smiley on the end. I'm a bit off smileys at the moment.

Which is to say (re logo), no, I don't like it but it doesn't really matter that much, does it and I didn't mean to sound so cross about it

Smiley. :o) There.

No worries. I tend to be equally unsmiley about the Great Space Vajayjay Of Doom it replaces... I guess I'm coming from a position of "as long as it looks nothing like the current one I'm happy".

Speaking of which: do you have a favourite golden syrup recipe? My experience is sorta limited to Anzac biscuits and putting it on ice-cream, and would quite like to try something else with it.

The only thing I really use it for aside from porridge, oaty biscuits and a wicked occasional sandwich, is your bog-standard standby, treacle tart.

Porridge? A fine thing? I was late for school on countless occasions due to my inability to stomach the stuff, and my mother's inability to realise it. Even the smell of it gives me the heaves!

Don't apologise for random posts; random away, I say.

Mmm. I love porridge! I eat it all the time, you are clearly crazy. *G*

The bit on the left's not so bad. They went entirely too literal with those initials, though.

It looks so tacky!

The "friends who did not shun you"? Are you being overly dramatic, or did something dreadful happen?

Something dreadful happened.

I love porridge but have never tried it with golden syrup. Sounds rather nice and worth a try.

As regards the apology with regard to your post, none necessary. :) I love reading your posts - you have a lovely way of expressing your views as if the reader is there engaged in conversation with you - and am always happy to see one from you on any and all subjects.

I have watched none of the reincarnated Doctors since the show was resurrected by the Beeb, having stopped watching the programme when Tom Baker left, but I hope for all of those who continue to enjoy it that the new logo is the only thing that disappoints.

Not watched since Tom? Gosh! You are a bit behind! *g* New Who has both delighted and appalled me. I was no fan of RTD and I doubt Moffat's reign is going to delight me either though, I must confess, I am so far past caring about fandoms of any kind all I can bring myself to do is shrug. My caring-much-of-a-hoot-for-a-TV-show (any TV show) days are truly behind me I think.

Golden syrup on porridge is a recent discovery for me; it's almost unbearably yummy - if you like porridge, that is. :o)

[identity profile] elfinessy.livejournal.com 2009-10-06 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I like it. And I know I've had a day longer than everyone else of staring at it but I do like it :-) It has grown on me :-)

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Meh. Still don;t like it but, in all honesty, can't really bring myself to care. I am so over all of that. :o)
