I just noticed...

it's Alan Bennett Night tonight on BBC2, and HIGMNFY and The Thick of It.

This is excellent news, this almost makes up for the fact that I shall have to go into the icy garden in a moment to lift and shift a wild cherry tree.

Alan Bennett is the epitome of a National Treasure. The way he had those WI people in the palm of his hand was hilarious. But he doesn't like having to play a nice man? Tough. He has a wonderful line in snark, but no-one who writes what he has done could be less than fundamentally decent.

was fun, though I don't believe for a moment that they've thrown Capaldi away.
