Your goodbye was dignified, graceful and moving.

@krishgm - Ed Balls reveals Lib Dems have agreed to deficit reduction and cuts this year despite saying it would be a disaster during campaign.

@catherine_mayer - Nothing in his life became him like the leaving of it. Gordon Brown resigns with immense grace #ukelection

@gillalexander - I suppose Dave and Nick can go back to being posh now.

@richardpbacon - Right, we've got no PM for half an hour. Quick, let's trash this town.

@sueperkins - And now we await news of how much the LDs have got for their carboot sale of the left wing

@Jamesmoran - Turning news off before that smug Tory shitbag appears. I'm so angry and upset, can't believe it's really happening.

@gillalexander: I wonder if Nick and Dave will get jammed in the No.10 doorway together in the manner of Laurel and Hardy?

@kilburnmat - So Nick Clegg is "in bed with nutters, anti-semites, people who deny climate change and homophobes"

@realrobertwebb - Really glad Heseltine is there just to remind us what's coming. Oh smashing.

@davidschneider - Can we all go and hand in our resignation to the Queen now?

No doubt this one will run and run, but I have an appointment with Chuck and a very stiff drink

ETA: It's official. Cameron's PM. oh bugger.

Well, with the restraining influence of a Liberal alliance which might make the difference. I'm clinging to the raft of hope that it simply cannot last.

I like Gordon.

There it is, my guilty secret, out at last.

I must admit I've never been a Gordon Brown supporter and I didn't vote for Labour, but I've just sat and watched his parting speech to his staff and it was the most dignified, graceful thing I've seen in the entire election. He rose in my estimation tonight...

I think he's a desperately underestimated man and I'm sadder than sad to see him go - but then, I would say that, wouldn't I? ;)

I'm hiding behind the sofa with my eggy soldiers for the foreseeable future. With the blankie over my head and my fingers in my ears... that should do it *g*

That's the best suggestion I've heard all evening.

For the Americans on your flist - what's the *worst* downside of him being PM. What should I be watching out for?

He's a Tory!

But seriously, he's got a reasonable face but behind him are all the old faces from the Thatcher government. Nothing in his party has changed one bit, they still want to cut taxes for the rich and reduce programmes that aid the poor. In the European Parliament, his party are aligned with some truly appalling scumbags, Polish homophobes and holocaust deniers and etc. I'm hoping alliance with the much more left-leaning LibDems will be sufficient of a restraining influence on his party but rather suspect the whole thing will break under the strain - but that would mean another election which the Tory's might win outright and that would be well scary.

The next few months are going to be very interesting. :)
