Oh God, it's a disaster...

I tell you. An absolute, bloody disaster.

I'm supposed to be working. I have a book to write, I have a major long chapter all planned out and ready to get on with.But...

I was supposed to go to acupuncture this morning - never made it (again) because Mark, my beloved, has (we think) accidentally ingested a tiny quantity of washing powder. O:!!!! He was really ill last night; terrible stomach pains and diarrhoea. I wanted him to go to A&E but he wouldn't. This morning, he's a lot better, but he still has a sore stomach and loose bowels and is not really over it. My nerves are in shreds, I tell you.

But by ten O clockish, he seemed more or less OK, and is laying on the bed as I write, eating crisps and watching The House Detectives, so, thinking this was a great opportunity to finish this chapter, I powered up the laptop up, fully intending to work and I find -  LJ is FULL of new fic, and interesting discussions and meta, and The Eighth Doctor and Fitz..
and I HAVE to tear myself away and GET ON WITH SOME WORK; but how...?

Please. Help. Help me resist the temptations, for they are many.

How on earth did he swallow washing powder? On second thoughts, don't answer that as I don't want to distract you from your work. Go, shoo!

(Hope he's feeling better in tomorrow)

We had a plumber in for a leak under the sink. He put everything back wrong; I couldn't find anything and had to sort it out - in the process of all this, a few grains of washing powder may have got on to the floor.

I put my slippers to warm on the stove when I went out. I think, maybe some of the hypothetically spilled powder got on to my slippers and then transferred to the stove.

Mark put a washed cup to dry on the stove, then, later, used the cup to drink from, complained the water had a horrible taste, 'like bleach', and threw it away after one mouthful O:

Later on, I noticed a few particles of white powder on the stove and put two and two together.

It just goes to show how nasty common household chemicals are. I mean, he couldn't have had more than a miniscule amount, and I use Ecover, which is supposedly bleach free and etc. It's been a massive worry, but he seems pretty much OK now.

And, yeah, I should be working, but I needed a break! heh heh heh. He seems much better now, thanks.

Back to the book...

A book to write? Oh, you mean the last chapter of Carthage *grin*

Sorry, I guess I'm not being much help in the getting on with work department. But I'm glad to hear Mark is feeling better...

Sigh. No. NOT that. I'm hoping to press on with thaqt this afternoon. This is the real one (o: the one I hopelessly hope might get published and earn me some money ::G::

And it's OK about the not-helping. Seems I need a break about every 5 minutes today. ::thinks tea + toast = Good Things::

But I wanna read your fic! And Jane's new fic! And the Secret Santa fics (I'm so behind!) and all the LJ stuff. I'll try and catch up tonight. My diary is, like, SO full right now, man!

Mark seems fine now, thanks. Enjoying the day off with his favourite occupations - stuffing his face with junk and watching TV. ::G::

God, that's scary - so small an amount to cause such a violent reaction. Hope the poor man is feeling ok now - if he's getting junk food down, that's got to be a good sign *g*.

And I'm no help with your temptation issues either - I've just blown a raspberry at the whole work concept and started my weekend early...::bounces:: I'm not a good influence *hg*

Oh yeah, go YOU! ::waves fist in a vague, slightly embarassed, English sort of a way::

I just finished my chapter; adventures in the smoke-stack town of Mayari, where my mate, Maria, got so bitten by mozzies that her shirt stuck to her back with blood, where the bus station was full of (literal) wankers and an attempt was made to entice me into the porn industry. ::smiles in fond remembrance::

::snigger::

But now, I must venture into the rain to post a letter, have more tea and tackle Carthage.

I hope you're having a lovely, restful day, my Gorgeous Gastropod.

LOL - see - I just knew you were a woman who lives life to the full!

Carthage? ::Snail perks up:: More? Soon?? Wheedle wheedle *g*

I hope you're having a lovely, restful day, my Gorgeous Gastropod.

Aw - you say the sweetest things ::blushes and blows kisses:: I'm being utterly idle, thanks. *HG*

Glad Mark is feeling better. What a fright you both had. Scary stuff.

Sending calming and healing vibes your way.

*hugs*

It was not a happy time, but all seems well now, thank God.

Thanks for the good wishes, hon. ::Breaths deep and calmly of your healing vibes::

I shall take the boy a cup of tea in a tic; he's still stretched out on the bed, watching daytime TV, surrounded by crisp packets and the sad, wrinkled, silver-foil remains of a Toblerone. (o:

God! I can vividly imagine the sorrow you've been in and I'm so glad that he's feeling better by now.

He seems more or less over it now; still a little delicate, but definitely on the mend. Thanks for the good vibes (o:

Sorry, but you REALLY don't want to ask ME to help you resist temptation. I'm with Oscar Wilde when he said, "I can resist everything but temptation!".

I WILL wish you good luck in your endeavours and hope that Mark is feeling a whole lot better VERY soon! =>}

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. I managed to resist all on my own! And as a result, have a 4,000 word chapter of my book done, and have made a start on the last chapter of Carthage. Alas, pooor Blair has had to go through another beating and more intimidation before he's even made it back up that hill. Honestly, it just happened - nothing to do with me!

I'll try and get some more done tomorrow, but I'm going to be busy again - the house needs a clean and I have to get the christmas decorations done and the cards sent out.

And mark is feelig better, thanks. Still a little delicate, but on the mend.

[identity profile] vamysteryfan.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad to read that Mark is feeling better and that you got your chapter done. I will not be so nonchalant about washing powder ever again.

Now it's time for the lovely new FIC! Yay for all the new fic I found out there. Work? Pffffbbbt. (I so need an icon for that)

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)

Don't be! It was certainly a wake up call for me.

Yay, too, for all that fic. I'm looking forward to it - just as soona s I get the chance to sit down for a bit!

[identity profile] luicat.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry this happened to you both and I'm glad that Mark is feeling better. Stomachy things like that are most unpleasant (says she of salmonella fame) and he so has my sympathy. So do you for your day going to pot and the worry.
Take care
::hugs::

[identity profile] gillyp.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, not all to pot, I got my chapter done, and the start of my fic and Mark seems much better now, thanks.

Thanks for the hugs, hon - sends some right back at ya.
