What a difficult story premise and yet you handled it beautifully! Psychologically you hit on an explanation for Naomi and Blair's relationship with the 'secret father', Naomi's restless searching and her 'detach with love' philosophy. And you managed to make them all, even the incestuous rapist, sympathetic characters. This dark secret shaped their physical lives, their characters and identities, even their basic philosophy of life; I really appreciated your look into an explanation for how this set of characters came to be. And I really applaud your portrait of Jim, really trying to do the right thing, and be the best he can be to support Blair through this difficult painful assay into his unknown heritage. Just a really wonderful involving read. Well done!

Gosh... Thanks! It's hard to know what to say in response, but, I'm incredibly pleased you liked it that much, and everything you've specifically mentioned; the sympathetic grandfather/father, the psychology behind Naomi's restless wandering, her shifting relationships - these were the key points that I wanted to come through – especially the Grandfather. It would‘ve been much easier to make him a villain but I really didn’t want to do that, I wanted him to be likeable and human and as much a victim as Naomi.

As I've said to everyone, I nursed this bunny for years, half-afraid to write it because a) it's a difficult subject and I wasn't sure how people would take it and b) because I knew it would be hard to do (it was!). I’ve always felt it was a plausible explanation for Naomi’s behaviour, especially not telling Blair who his father was.
