Back in Withnell. It's Crack at the House 2 - The Sitting Room.
Plans for a simple lick o' paint have been thwarted by the discovery that there's some nasty-looking damp in the neighbour's wall (we live in a terrace. Legally, we own the wall with our chimney on it, the neighbours own the other wall - the one with their chimney on it). Our house is damp-proofed, theirs obviously isn't (usually you have to put a DPC in to get a mortgage if, for some reason, the property doesn't have one. ::shrug:: Maybe they don't have a mortgage?).
Anyway, we're not going to worry too much and hope to get away with damp-sealing our side. That's the plan for now, anyway. We have a dehumidifier running, that's it for today (for yeah, verily, after the M62 and fighting round Morrisons and B&Q, I be knackered) Tomorrow = clearing the sitting room (with all it's antique knick-knacks and a thousand or so books) and settling our stuff in the bedroom. Sunday = stripping wallpaper, damp-sealing the damn wall and stuff.
And Lawdy law, just look at the weather! I hope Snail and all Flisters down in the SW and Wales are faring OK, I believe you've got it far, far worse than we have. Batten your hatches if you have them, my lovelies.

Good grief - more decorating! You guys are heroes. ::nods::
Good luck with the damp-sealing - I used to do that to our bathroom wall every Christmas (hate spit hate).
The weather has gone barking mad - rain all night and all day, plus a nice howling gale thrown in. I'm snuggling indoors tonight and not moving unless the house catches fire or someone offers me money. Or possibly both.
Have a great weekend sweetie, in spite of the hard graft. 'Twill be worth it in the end, yes?
::blows smoochy kisses::

As for the weather - I've been watching the news; oh baby! We have oodles of rain and horrible winds but nothing like you're having down there. I hope you're all safe and dry and snug as bugs in a big, fluffy rug.
We just put the new bedding on the big bed since we shall be (squeefully!) sleeping up there tonight and pretty much living up there for the next several days.
Have a groovy weekend babe, it sounds like you deserve it. ::sending the luuurve::
