Welcome to my perfumed garden

To finish up. We both slept badly last night. Mark left his laptop  downloading and it was putting out a beam of light like an oncoming ice-breaker - which didn't help. I don't know what else was wrong but man, I'm tired today.

Gotta move it and finish though, as we're off back to Yorkshire tomorrow. As it is, the new lights, curtains, blinds and throws will have to wait till we return the week after next (for the kitchen, she said in a voice of pure dread).

Today should be a relatively easy day. All painting - which is quite relaxing in its way. We have to:

Put a coat of paint on the walls Mark damp-gunked yesterday. Then while that dries...

Paint the door to the kitchen (should've been done yesterday, but it was almost 6 O' clock and the fumes were really getting to me) with white gloss.

Put a second coat on the walls I painted yesterday, but which time the other walls should be dry enough for a second coat and...

It'll be done. Finished. Finito. There will be much rejoicing.

Not a hard day, really - should take 4 or 5 hours to finish. If I could just move myself off this bed...

More coffee first, I think.

Sort of.

It's all painted, it all looks done - I'm a tad bothered by the strange, black, tarry substance painted on a couple of the walls by Victorian forbears. It's managed to break through rubber paint, 2 layers of skim and 2 layers of paint. A further skim and more paint seems to have finally cracked it, but we'll have to see in the morning.

Tomorrow an electrician arrives (we hope) to sort the muddle of wires in the switches and then, we're done. We might move the furniture back - kinda depends on whether the paint is truly dry, otherwise it'll have to wait for the next visit. There are a few things still to buy - a ceiling light., some new curtains, stuff like that but...

::heaves relieved sigh::

It's mostly done. Thank all the Gods. I'm thoroughly scrubbed and in my 'jamas with a beer and a (quorn) sausage, chipotle sauce and smoked cheese sarnie.
